I am not sure the law would hold the electric company at fault. You leave the dogs in the yard and they have to come in and read the meter.
I would NOT leave a mostly blind and deaf dog in the yard anyway, let alone if I expect that utilities would have to come in.

You should get in your car and go around your neighborhood and look for your dog. You can put up posters and hand out flyers with a good description or, at least, a photograph.

You can check with your local shelters and see if she has been brought in. Is she microchipped?

Keep looking, if she is old she probably did not wander off that far and could be dazed and confused trying to figure out where you are. If this was several hours ago, going by car is probably the most efficient. If you walk her in your neighborhood, she may have gone in your usual walking direction.

I would find her first and then worry about the electric company later. You never know. I have found dogs and returned them to their owners after they had been wandering for a week.

Good luck, I hope you find her soon but keep looking even if you have to drive far away and look well into the night because dogs can really get going when they have a mind to.

Here are some tips:

Put a piece of your unwashed clothing outside, the animal knows your smell and the wind will carry your scent and the animal can follow it back home. Also you can show a picture to your mail man, he/she is out traveling your area and can let you know if he/she has spotted the animal hanging out up the street. You might also want to try and ask neighbors, perhaps the animal got stuck in a neighbors garage or basement. Good Luck...

***I would also KEEP calling the local shelters, they might not always have enough staff to cross check lost & found reports daily. So by you calling in to see if they have gotten in any animals (with the description you give them) it would be easier for them to do that,

You have no proof they let the dog out - anyone could have opened the gate. Your top priority should be to find the dog - not worry about whose fault it was. Put posters up around the area that have her picture on them. Contact shelters and Vet clinics and let them give them copies of the poster so if she turns up they'll recognise her. Ask a local radio station to broadcast the message for you - state that she's old and mostly blind and deaf and ask people to watch out for her. Also take your other dog for walks around your area, she may smell him and be able to find you that way. Good luck!

So sorry to hear about your dog..

I would call the Electric Company and complain, and ask for them to foot any bills which may arise (pound fees, medical fees as a result of your dog being let out) when your dog is found. This is unprofessional behaviour by their staff member, you are a responsible dog owner, keeping your dogs secured in a yard, and they have not respected that.

Perhaps you can put a notice up around your local area with a photo - if your dog is old and she is mostly deaf and blind, whom ever has found her, could be holding onto her for you instead of sending her to the pound/dog shelter.

I hope your dog turns up soon.. I don't know what I would do, if my dog was let out :o(

Call and report this to the police, you need to make a report, and if they refuse to do so, you tell whomever to connect you with the Sargent.
They have to send an officer out to take the report, you do have proof, the notice that they were out at the home. .
Call the power company, and file a report as well, tell them you have the notice they left and also a police report, and they need to be out working to help find the dog. ( they may not, but you need to show them you mean business.

While all this is going on, someone should be looking for the dog.

Post Note: This is speaking of past expert dealing with VA Power who was responsible for allowing my wolf mix out and he was HIT by a car, he didn't die, but they had to PaY for VET BIlls and FIRED THE MORONs That allowed this to happen. I was gone for three hours the CALLING CARD WE WERE OUT TO READ THE METER IS PROOF. (Told to me by officers) Also it's a LAW EVEN IF YOU Had a child pop the gate open and in future this happens again, and the child or adult gets caught, those reports show just how many times this has happened, and the person allowing it gets more time in jail or probation.
And if you live in a city or what not where police refuse to file this report they are held accountable, BY Fedral law they have to take the stupidest report there is.
Also who knows Animal control could have picked her up as well if she was called on Good Grief.
hope you find him or her.

I would think they would be afraid to enter if there were dogs in the yard. Check all pounds, spca and put up signs asking for the return of the blind dog. I don't know where you live but in my area (Buffalo, NY) they hop fences and steal dogs so they can throw them in the pit bull pens just to give their dogs a taste of blood... Because of that, Police would never believe your "electric guy" story. We would NEVER leave our helpless dogs alone in the yard for one minute unless we were home and paying attention. I hope you find the dog. That's so sad.

Im sorry your dog is lost.

My dogs are kept inside when I am not home that way if some one were to come in the yard they wouldn't run off.

I hope your dog comes back home. She is probably scared being out wandering wherever she is.

Have you tried looking aroung your neighborhood or asking your neighbors to see if they have seen her?

I hope you find her.
