Thoughts, information, pros and cons?

Also, I'm female, can they join? lol. I mean, of course they can join, would it be harder for them, are they less likely to be accepted?

We have lots of female friends who are also in the Navy. They have never had anymore issues than what they would have to deal within the civilian working world. They all came in as enlisted and love it. They have gained skills and education, been stationed overseas and are going ot stay in as long as possible. They all work at different jobs, some are HM (medical), another is a QM (Quartermaster), one is an AC (Air Traffic Controller) and the list goes on from there.

If it is something that you really want to do because you feel it would be the best thing for your future, then do it. If going to college is an option then wait to join the military, go to college for a year or so and then make your final decision.

As a female who recently joined I would tell you that it isn't any harder for females to join than males....as for those who say females are treated harsher in the Navy, raped and so forth...don't let it scare you out of making a positive decision for yourself and your future...those things can still happen to us here...my navy training as an intelligence specialist has helped me gain a job in a very rewarding career and I hope to continue to find new career opportunities...i got extra "hiring points" on an application because of military experience. The Air Force is no longer any less physically demanding than the Navy and I would definetely tell you as a female to not join the Army..it is way more physically demanding..do what you think will be the best for your future...i was scared when I joined but the college is good, the money is good, and so are the opportunities....I let others scare me out of going for a little over two years and completely regreted it

I think you considering joining the Navy is great! Just go and visit your local recruiters office and hit them up for some great information. Before ya go write down all the questions you have that way you have somewhat of an idea to talk about when ya visit the office. Best of luck to ya!

This accurate type of information is unavailable on Yahoo Answers.

You must visit with, or telephone your hometown military Recruiters for the very latest information. (A visit is best when getting your information.)

Right now, start making a list of all the questions you can think of. When the time comes, take your list of questions with you to the hometown military Recruiter and "pick their brain" to ensure all your questions are answered.

Also ask what types of high school courses you would also need to graduate high school, which would be to your advantage for your potential future job, when enlisting in the military.

I think you should consider a career in the business world and stay out of the military.

If you are set that you want to go into the military , go in as an officer. The lowest ranking officer probably has it better than the enlisted personnel. Do research and find out for yourself.

If I had any other choice, I'd stay out of the military. More money and better life in business.

I've had friends in the Navy who would tell you never to join the navy as a female. I'm not saying there aren't people out there who would disagree, but they were both treated horribly, raped more than once and had their commanding officers tell them it was their fault and to let it go and not ruffle any feathers.

I would tell you consider Army or Air Force instead. Army gaurantees your job, while other services sort of do, but can't gaurantee it. Physically, the Air Force is less demanding.

It all depends on the job you want to do in the service.
