Yes. The racks at the entrance to most military chapels are adorned with the literature of all faiths. Bibles and copies of the Torah are available to all. There's even an Armed Forces song book with songs from the Catholic, Protestant and Jewish traditions. I'm fond of needling my Catholic priests and my bishop by telling them one of the few places you can find the words and music for the National Hymn these days is in that Armed Forces song book.

When I was in the army, you could get a little pocket sized bible from the chapel. That was about it. I think it was donated by the American Society of Optometrists because the print was so tiny it was a real eye strainer to read. But nice, nevertheless.

Short answer.....YES.
You can get them from the Chaplain, the chapel or even at the United States Recruiting Command.
The Recruiting Command has one with a camouflage cover on it.
Hope that helps.

I believe you are asking if your tax dollars pays for the religious material.
I don't believe so, Chaplains receive donations same as any church does.
We had my Unit Chaplain perform the wedding ceremony for our daughter, and we made a donation to the post chapel.
However your tax dollars do buy prayer rugs and Korans for the prisoners at gitmo.

Yep- lots of them.
Talk to a Chaplain - he will give you a boatload of bibles, bible excerpts, korans, torahs - they've got all that stuff.
They offer it to you when they see you, too - you may not even have to ask. Then you'll feel like a jerk for saying no thanks. :)
