I don't think it's so weird. I think that birthdays are similar to holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas. There's so much hype surrounding them that expectations get built up, whether we realize it or not. When the holidays or our birthdays don't meet our expectations, we feel let down. In fact, I've heard that suicide rates increase around the holidays, and I wonder if this has something to do with it.

Good Afternoon Garrett and Happy Birthday!
The "Blah's" are a thing everone has now and then. To have them on your birthday is not that unusual. I've seen almost two months worth of birthdays in my time and some are good and active others are so so and others I've had the blahs.
Considering the date of you birthday I would put together all the factors around this time of the year, step back and look at it all an say "No Wonder I Have The Blah's" You have finals, or midterms going on at the end of a semester or quarter at school. Studing from that alone will give one the Blah's. You have a major holiday going on, Turkey Day, where we usually go into food intake overload which brings on major nap times, Then your birthday itself, a strain emotionally as well as another notch on the calendar of becoming an adult with all of those pressures.
Hey it is not unusual to have the blahs at this time of the year and for a birthday teen not unusual at all. Enjoy the day as best you can and when you feel better tell the family "OK!! Let's celebrate My Birthday AGAIN!!!" as see if they throw stuff at you.
Have a good day

Garrett-
When you think about it birthday celebrations are really kind of silly. These celebrations make as much sense as New Year's Day in my opinion. I mean do we celebrate the sesqui-annual? Why not? Do we have big celebrations just because a person gets a fabulous new hairstyle or jacket or pair of pants, or because a beautiful flower just grew? Celebrating birthdays can be compared to those occurences to me
I stopped feeling great about celebrating birthdays around my mid 30's because getting old is nothing to celebrate in my opinion, however it's just not usual for someone as young as you to feel that way about birthdays. It's not strange that you feel that way, just not usual. If you were exhausted, tired, preoccupied with other priorities, that even makes it completely normal you felt "bleh" about your birthday.
Somewhat off topic-- > Most people get so excited about Christmas, yet one year this season didn't phase my boyfriend.. why? Because he was busy buying his first townhouse during this time.. :) He did celebrate Christmas, but in a much different way
So don't feel weird that you felt bleh on your birthday. You just weren't in the mood, and had other priorities. Since when is partying an important priority.?? :)
Cheers!

It is not weird at all to feel "bleh" on your birthday. It happens. Like you explained; you have been burned out from school and your fatigue does not help either. In any case, don't force yourself to do something you don't want to do. Just try to relax and take steps. Maybe you can celebrate your birthday another day when you feel better. Anyways, Happy Birthday! Hope this helps your woes.

Sounds like you are kind of young for this to happen, but there comes a time when birthdays really are nothing to celebrate. Sounds mostly like the things you suggest: lack of sleep being the most important. Take a nap and/or get some exercise. You'll feel ready to party.

Happy Birthday! I think you just tired!
There is no law ,that say you can't celebrate more this weekend or the next.
You got alot more it seems to celebrate than growing a year older! You are a man,who is putting his priorities in line! You were kind to your family who put forth an effort to celebrate. But,you have homework and your recognize your tired!
Your sacrifice now will pay off ,in so many ways! I hope, you finish your work, get rest, and celebrate the person you are.You owe that to yourself!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ! SIR!

Happy birthday! =] I felt the exact same way on my birthday, I just felt in the "whatever" mood too. I didn't want to go out for dinner or anything... I guess it was just a bad day. I remember crying that day too, it's really weird but I guess it's just mixed emotions. It really sucks to have one of those depressing days on your birthday...
Just relax and enjoy it the way YOU want to. Don't force yourself to celebrate.. unless your parents will force you to like mine (which made my day worse) enjoy the rest of your birthday while it lasts!!

I sometimes feel like this. School gets pretty tough and annoying. I just relax sometimes on my birthday. You could have everyone just come to your house for a celebration for like an hour or something then rest. You better get some sleep soon!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! :D

As you get older, you have a change of thoughts and behaviors. You are thinking differently now; you are getting older so there is no "big deal" about special days. Remember when Christmas, or whatever holiday you celebrate, was a huge event? As you got older, this time isn't as festive as it used to be. Your feelings are quite normal. Don't worry, just enjoy them in your own way.

Thats how all people act, teenagers. You just feel so lazy and tired. Your thinking who cares about this birthday, I dont want to celebrate! I would tell your family how you are feeling and ask them. I would suggest maybe going to a movie or something.
