My mom wants to send my brother to juvenile hall..don't even know if she can do that. He doesn't go to school. He is rarely home and I know for fact he is running around with the older gangsters and they're most likely using him to do things..he's only 14!! Has a tattoo on his back! Family is constantly worried and stress. He comes home to change and leaves. He snuck and deleted all of his friends numbers from my mom's cell. He was suppose to go to court with my mom in September for getting caught ditching, but he never shows up at home to even go..we don't know what to do! He lies constantly. And the direction he is going, we're afraid he will end up dead. ANy advice? we live in los angeles area..

Any advice? - Don't be like him. Let your parents be parents and handle the situation.

Good question.
I don't know that putting him in lock-up would help the situation. He needs to get re-focused on his priorities, develop some interests and activities that are mainstream and yet meaningful to him.
It might not hurt to have a juvenile officer talk to him, find out if there are any social/community outreach programs available for at-risk youth.
There are times when it takes a serious intervention to redirect a teen's energy, but you seem to be on the right track, showing an interest in him, caring about him.
Use whatever social services you have in your community, talk to school counselors, you may have to find a residential treatment facility---a hard way to go, sometimes necessary--and seek state money to help pay for it.

try support-groups of parents/families in similar circumstances. Here is one link to a support group you might look at.
This is serious stuff Good you're there to help.

Juvi hall may have some kind of a program for troubled teens, so that may be the best thing for him right now. It'll give him protection, structure, and education. All of which he needs. There are also teen boot camp programs all over the U.S. you may want to look into. Sometimes you'll see these teens on talk shows like Maury. He definitly needs help, and Juvenile hall or teen boot camp would be the best thing for him.

I believe you mom can have him arrested and taken to juvenile. If the court apperace had to with him i'm supprised the judge did not order some kind of warrent on him. i know he's only 14 but it doesn't make it impossible for him to go to jail (juvenile) Sounds like he needs a lot of help. Good luck

Tough love. Do what you have to do. He might be mad at first but someday when he is grown he will realize that you and your family were only trying to help. I think he not only needs to be locked up he also needs counseling to figure out why he is running away so much. He needs to learn coping skills and how to change is life for good, not just temporarily. Your family does not need this and it will only be a matter or when not if he will kill or worse.....be murdered. Good luck and god bless!
