philosophy is questioning everything and your own perspective of matters of the world and universe. philosophy has no dogma other than: question everything assume nothing and use logic and reason.
religion just tells you what to believe and not to question.
hence philosophers always got into trouble especially in theocracies. we still do. philosophy is figuring things out on your own so you believe it religion is being told what to believe so you join it.

Philosophy is a superficial reasoning for people to align their thoughts with. Religion can be really just a group of people with a common belief in a particular philosophy. Faith though, is all together different and much more fulfilling. It is contingent upon a personal relationship with the Savior and the individual whom He grants salvation. Faith is therefor not 'one size fits all' in the sense that we are all unique.
Faith is far superior to any human concept because it is built upon Christ who is far superior to us. Philosophies and religions are only as strong as the men who create them. But, faith is based upon He who created man.

Religion is about "preaching" to the masses and getting converts from them. That is all they do. They offer their teachings, which are not sensible nor logical.
Philosophy is about the ideas and beliefs only - to discuss these aspects only - and so "preaching" is not valid. And if Christian philosophy still contains "preaching" and repeating ad naseum their dogma and rhetoric - then you know what they are about - 'rubbish' which doesn't stand up to minute scrutiny and examination.

Philosophy is a system of thought about things, there is are philosophies of religion and mathematics. It is rather useless to compare the two.

That's not completely accurate. Religion is something a person practices, which usually involves joining a group. Of course, a person's beliefs are generally why they take part in religious practices.

With philosophy, everything is open for debate and challenge, and you choose to adopt it or not. Religion is doctrine and dogma to which you must dedicate yourself to, which also includes a commitment to blind faith. Challenging ideas preset in religion is rarely encouraged.

They're pretty much mutually exclusive. Philosophy encourages you to question everything while religion demands you question nothing. Philosophy says find your own answer while religion says you must accept our answer. Philosophy says there is no right or wrong answer while religion says theirs is the only right answer and all others are wrong.
