i'm thinking i need to geta new part for it but i don't know what its called. its the part that the av cable plugs into.

does anyone know whats wrong and/or what the part is called?

You're probably still under warranty, call up Sony and if your warranty is still in effect you can get it replaced for free.

I think I know what happened when you were playing your game. You probably had an electrical outlet overload. If your PS3 and T.V. were all plugged into the same outlet with a bunch of other gadgets, it can cause an overload on the outlet.

I remember one time at my mom's office, I plugged a paper shredder into an outlet next to an outlet that a big copying machine was using, and I heard this loud noise, and I smelled a little bit of smoke coming from the paper shredder. This was because of an electrical overload and this is probably the same case in your situation.

I think that you might have to send your PS3 to Sony because it sounds like your PS3 might be damaged internally.
