Well, people make fun of me, but I have had cold sores since I was a baby. Here's what I do when it's full blown.

First of all, you need to be on a daily vitamin of L-Lysine. When you feel a cold sore coming, take 4 of them.

Second, you can crush the L-Lysine into powder, add a tiny bit of water and apply directly to the sore.

You can also use a little bit of Ban, unscented deodorant to dry it out.

Lastly, use Carmex. That Ambisol crap never worked for me. Carmex is better and WAY cheaper.

Blistex - cream works the fastest but the medicated lip balm works too. It's all I ever use. No dry scab forms because the Blistex keeps it moist, and it also stops the itching. If you start using it as soon as you realize a cold sore is forming it will never form into a blister - but as with any medicine you must keep it applied to the sore.

There is a lipbalm at the pharmacy. Works in 1-2 days

take a washcloth and soak it in the hottest water you can stand then press it on the sore ....make sure it is the hottest u can possibly stand...that will make it smoother and softer then wash it and use abreva or something but i wouldnt recommend to many creams

or if you have an exfoliating scrub with beads in it that can smooth it out

it should be a bit painful but it will shorten the duration of the sore

Zinc, vitamin c and garlic on the inside (orally) to boost immunity, and speed healing, and calandula or tea tree oil for the topical treatment of the sore. Or if you prefer a more conventional approach use one of the cold sore creams.

A lot of times a dr can give you a good medication for it.

If not pop it if it's pop-able, and hold a q-tip with nail polish remover on it. It hurts but it helps. And when you go to bed put toothpaste on it.

during the day keep vasaline on it so it doesn't crack and bleed.

Use carmex.
It helps me all the time.
I always get cold sores during pictures!
And, when I use Carmex it goes away in about 2 or 3 days.
So, try it out if you haven't already!

Put toothpaste on it before you go to bed....it usually dries it out. (but dont 4get to wipe it of in the mornin!)
Also strong perfume can do the same, you can always try the good old salt on it, like with an ulcer, but that will probobly leave u crying....i no it did me...

First, hold an ice cube on it for about five minutes. It sounds stupid, but it stops it from getting larger or any worse. After that, keep it from drying out. If it splits, you will be sorry.
