BTW For all the people who mention Archer, he was definately a pioneer being the first Capt of the Enterprise but unfortunately Scott Bakula really didn't deliver a solid enough performance to be considered as the BEST Captain of Star Trek.

I should narrow it down to Kirk, Picard, and Janeway and I really couldn't argue against any of the three for BEST Captain of all time unless someone could make a strong case for either of the three. Janeway was one of my favs for a long time but Kirk and Picard were also great so I don't know.

Kirk even though he was a bit of a cowboy and womanizer always got the job done.

Picard only tried to ride the wave of popularity and success that had been created by Kirk.

Janeway was the first woman captain and as such turned in a solid performance.

But my vote has to go for Kirk. He was my first captain and in my opinion, the best captain. He stuck to his mission of exploration while everyone else (Archer included) tends to 'blow things out of the sky'.If you look at ST: TOS then you will find many lessons in the mission such as 'Let This Be Your Last Battlefield'...where Star Trek teaches us about racism in ALL forms or 'Shoreleave' where we find that even fleeting thoughts can be dangerous. ST: TOS was awesome. Kirk and Spock was even more awesome!

I will go with Pike on that one. He had the respect of Kirk and Spock. I never did like Kirk's "Let's beam the entire bridge crew down to the most dangerous planet we can find." attitude. Picard was also guilty of that. Cisco had some very strange things happen to him that I won't go into here. As for Janeway, I don't think any of the other Captains on your list would have stranded Voyager in the Delta quadrant. They are all great characters. I noticed you left out Archer, but I didn't watch Enterprise much, so I guess he is best left out.

I can't include Cisco because he was a captain of Deep Space Nine and not a star ship.

I really don't like to comment on Pike either because he was before Kirk and it's hard to say.

I put Picard #1, Kirk #2, Janeway #3

If the universe was about to explode or something, I'm convinced that Captain Kirk would be the one to save us all.

Gotta be Kirk.

Then Picard.
