what good will it do if we knew where all our produce foods came from?

Some people believe that the longer it takes your produce to reach your table, the lower the nutritional value.

For example, if you know the fruit came from a local farm versus Chile... then you know the fruit is typically fresher when from the local farm.

Also, by knowing where things come from you can understand the level of "safety" of the food. For example, the US may have a strict standards on use of pesticides or herbicides before shipping the food while other countries don't have any restrictions.

What good is the information?
It's information that will give you the ability to make a decision on whether you want the product or not. Knowledge is power.

Not much, really. Our food supply is the cheapest, safest, most nutritious, and most abundant in the history of the world.

Most of the so-called "recalls" are more about avoiding lawsuits, and not because of an actual danger.
