Samba is a Linux file shareing program.
Window server 2003 is exactly what it says, window server not desktop
VMware allows you to run several virtual machines on one hardware box, and is expensive.

WINE allows you to emulate window calls and API's within Linux. WINE is normally included with most Linux distributions and I suggest that you get a good book on it since there is a lot of set up that needs to be done.
BUT I am told that once you set it up it works well.
