yes, i'd agree. probably not for the reasons you mention, though

simply put, the rise of an un- and under-educated clergy is the main cause for the popularity of American fundamentalism

to think, the clergy used to be the most educated, most well-read, most intellectual strata of society. nowadays, that "book learnin' and book readin' " is frowned upon most, if not all, of the time

I wouldn't think that 90% were wrong --BUT--there are a lot. that should not be in the ministry. Satan has placed some there I think. Some feel like they were called But they may have been wrong. That's why it's very important to READ the Bible so you know the truth. Find a Bible teaching church and follow with the Preacher and check what He's saying. Good luck !!!!

I wouldn't agree (and is your figure a fact or a supposition? How many have you actually met of the hundreds of thousands in the US?). I would agree that there are many who are in their position for the wrong reasons, and they are not accountable to their congregation or other ministers. Our pastor is accountable to a small group of people, his wife and those other pastors have access codes to his computer, etc and he is very loving and open with us all. There's never been a problem but they are role models for the rest of us.

The typical minister is a college graduate, most of whom have advanced degrees.

Very few other professions have a higher percentage of advanced degreed individuals.

Smart enough? Most priests speak a minimum of 4 languages and attend 8 years of seminary. What do you have, a GED ?

Who's going to decide what profession they should be in?
You? Government?
I shudder at the thought.
If you don't like ministers or priests, then don't go to them for help or advice.

I would take a wild guess that you have not spent a lot of time around ministers in your life.

I have been some very humbling men of god. I give them my respect beacause I think ANY person of ANY god deserves it until proven unworthy of thier calling.

I always thought clergymen would make good politicians or lawyers, as they are usually good orators and can make up some good B.S. when they don't know an answer.
