I mean, the only thing that separates Christian doctrine from lies is the fact that these people really believe that stuff. They portray their doctrine as fact but they don’t know that it’s true; they only hope that it’s true. But of course, you’ll never hear them admit it. Whereas atheists speak only the cold, hard truth stripped bare of all niceties and emotion. To me, honor and dignity cannot be found in a non-atheist, only hidden motive, deceit and ruthlessness.

Yes, absolutely. I don't trust religious people.
They need an imaginary father figure to scare them into being good.

I don't think it's really a difference between christian, and non christian,,, I think it's just a difference in people. There are just as many Christians who have honor per say ,,hundred, as there are non Christians. It just appears more because there are more to begin with.

For instance...if only one out of 10 Christians are deceitful and dishonest, but you have millions and millions,,,the total amount is staggering at just 1/10. By the same token, 1 out of 10 atheists are dishonest too, but you only have a tiny number to begin with, so the end result is subjective to the numbers.

Say there are 20 atheists on here right now,,and 2 are not dignified,,,,then you have 200 Christians on here ...that leaves 20 to run their mouths to only 2 mouth running atheists. It would make it unfairly appear that Christians do this more,,,when if fact there are just more of them to mouth run.

Well, I will agree that you are cold and hard.
You're certainly stripped bare of all niceties and emotion, too.

I agree 100% with Impeyan Link's response. There is always an exception.

Thanks, Bad Liberal. I concur.

MOST atheists are honorable and dignified. Others aren't.
One or two ruin it for the really cool ones.

For the most part, yes, if we're talking about the ones here.

Out in the real world it's much more even, though of course there's the whole giant religious lunatic fringe out there and nothing comparable for atheists. But there are most certainly hundreds of thousands of perfectly honorable and dignified believers of all faiths out there.

Personally, being agnostic, I beleive that yes, atheists do seem more honorable and dignified then non-atheiests. Because, athiests have an open mind and are open to talking about what they don't know. While with non-athiests, well most ( keyword: most) of them tend to not want to discuss things, like religion, that they can't understand.

I would hesitate to call believers "ruthless", but that may depend on what religion that they are. There are many honorable and diginified people in various belief systems, and as we can plainly see here on Y!A, a number of not so dignified atheists.

As an atheist myself I appreciate the compliment but actually I would say that 'honorable' and 'dignified' aren't really applicable in a comparison of that nature. I would use the words, "intellectually honest" and "forthright".

No! Whatever someone believes regarding faith in God or not has nothing to do with dignity and honor. Those are personal character traits.

No, what you describe as a non-atheist is how I would describe the atheists I know. They have no values and no honor. Everything is situational. Christians have a standard they try to live by. Does not always work because we are all sinners. However, I find most atheists I meet are deceitful, hateful, and contemptuous of any belief system different from there own (although they say the are tolerant about all ideas).

I think that being honorable has to do with your charactar not your religion/or non-religion. I know lots of people athiest and christian who are the most respectable people in the world...
