UNITED STATES. and no the british didnt do shi t in the pacific. they were hanging on by a thread when the US got involved. in regard to the comment about the soviets, eh i disagree i think hitler and the german army would have whipped their as ses if we werent fighting them on the other front. The US dominated WWII and thank god for that.

Also in addition to the countries listed in the other answers, I believe France, or a part of it, allied with the Nazis then,, There was a segment of France called Vichy France, I know that much, although I don't know if they were the part that sided with us or with them. Sorry I guess I'm more ignorant than I thought, or I wdnt have even started to answer this question!! Let me tell you this, though: the very best books to read on this subject are Herman Wouk's series that starts with, (I think!!) The Winds of War. There are 6-7 books in this series, and they are all BIG books, at least 12-1500 pages each, so if you're into reading at all, I highly recommend this series. They're novels & they follow the experiences of a Navy pilot & a whole bunch of other main characters as the war begins & progresses, following these same people throughout the entire war. They're great!! I can't recommend them strongly enough!!

That question opens another , at which time of WWII. the entry of the USA into the European conflict was largely motivated by the need to crank up the US economy, mind you there were other reasons as well, economically the US was still in the doldrums. Once the US showed their hand and after a disastrous start it became the main power mainly through the ability of the US industry to supply the allied forces with ever increasing amount of weapons and stores and of course the huge number of men available for the Armed Forces.

Perhaps not so much the Brits more the Australians. the Brit did have their hand full in Europe and Africa . Apart from Burma it was mainly the Australian troops who very abley assisted the US Forces. Having said that ,My honest believe is that without US man power and supplies the Australian had no chance of holding the Japanese advance but without the Australian know how and local knowledge it would have been much harder for the US. The Brits were out of the picture after the debacle at Singapore.. hz.

Depends on what you mean by "main"?

The USA was the primary arsenal of democracy. But Russia shouldered the brunt of the fighting. By the time the USA got involved on the ground in the west (discounting the sideshows of Africa and Italy) the USSR had recaptured ALL of it's prewar territory and was threatening poland and the Balkans. Even at the height of the American involvement, 3/4 of the wehrmacht was engaged on the Eastern front.

The British had a very limited participation in the Pacific, and didn't save anyone's butt. The war in the Pacific was won by burying the enemy in American steel.

Your kidding right. The United States was the main allied power. The British did not save our butts in the pacific, some very very brave AMERICANS in the battle of Midway did. Learn some history.

Great Britain. If Britain fell then the Germans would have dominated Europe and through Europe dominate the globe. Without Britain the American military build up in Europe would not have been so adept. American did not need help winning the pacific war.

US
No
Most of the supplies that keep Britian alive came from the US on US ships.
The British used a lot of Sherman tanks.

I don't know where you are getting your history from but ask for a refund.

The Soviet Union

Hand's Down!

It is my personal opinion that they would have won the war without us (the western Allies) eventually and then all of Europe would have been in their control.
