How to find someone who has been put away!?!?!?

I have a friend who had a warrant out for him, he turned himself in, and his possible options were going to be jail or the army. I've called the jail that takes people from four counties, mine included, and he isn't there. How would I go about finding out where he went? I just wanna write a letter or maybe visit.

I don't know which state you're in, but for Ohio and most others, you can go to that State's Dept. of Corrections website and they'll have an Offender search list.
