Carnival is definitely a nice line. I have cruised with them several times. I just got off of the Carnival Miracle on Friday....for my second time. Each ship that Carnival owns has a theme to it...to make it unique. They are known as the "Fun Ship", but that refers to the festive music and activities available on board...not that it is just for kids and people who want to party. We had an extended balcony room...and found plenty of private/quiet time...along with a nice place to enjoy the room service. I will cruise on other lines...but I would always recommend Carnival.

Princess is more classy...and Royal Caribbean is in between Carnival and Princess. I like all of them.

The cruise lines that I have mentioned are all pretty comparable in price...if you are looking for a more luxurious cruise...try Crystal or Windstar.

You will be on the Carnival Spirit. The Spirit class is my favorite class of ship in Carnival's fleet. I have been on three Carnival cruises (and have a future one booked) and I have enjoyed all three Carnival cruises.

You may hear stories about Carnival being a party ship, but that comes from Carnival's advertising in the 1970s and 1980s. This still may apply to the short three and four night cruises with warm water itineraries. However, as you get to the one week or longer cruises and especially to Alaska, the party hearty people are no longer aboard.

My sister and brother-in-law enjoyed our cruise on the Carnival Pride (the Spirit's younger sister) more than our cruise on Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the Seas (which is almost twice as big and has all the latest bells and whistles).

You will enjoy your cruise. The scenery is beautiful.

I have heard that Carnival is a party ship and that Royal Caribbean is like the Mercedes of cruise ships.

My husband and that i have been on countless cruises. I fantastically recommend Princess or movie star. i imagine you'll locate better expenditures with Princess even if the nutrition is soooo solid on movie star! We received miraculous service on both. The southern caribbean changed into large, tremendously St. Martin. We also love Aruba. We booked through Liberty holiday and nationwide Cruises. try getting some expenditures on line and check out. once you've the money make confident you get an outdoors stateroom ideally one with a balcony. Princess has countless balcony cabins. Have an miraculous time!

Carnival is fine - it's very glitzy, as far as decor, but it's lots of fun. [BTW - Royal is not "Mercedes" by any stretch!]

Go to CruiseCritic.com, click on "Boards" and "Reviews" for lots of useful info.

Have a great time!
