On major highways I always see road kill (deer) marked with an orange dot of spray paint. Why do they do this and who are they? Im just curious. (I live in Pa).

**I see it all the time, every deer that is killed on a major highway gets a dot of spray paint. Its not just someone painting road lines over it**

I know in some areas, they mark the road kill to let other state or county workers who come upon it, know that the road kill has been reported and is scheduled for removal. Otherwise everytime the roadkill is spotted by cops or road workers it gets called in.

Road Crew Paints Stripe Right Over Road Kill
CHICAGO (CBS13) ― If you travel America's highways and roadways, you sometimes come across road kill. But what happened to one dead raccoon has some people very upset.

It'a road-striped raccoon. Road workers in Illinois painted the yellow center lines right over the dead raccoon instead of having it removed.

The painted raccoon has since been removed, but the people who complained say their kids were upset by what was done..

Now the transportation authority in Illinois is investigating.

You know when you're in PA when there's a dead deer on the highway every 3 miles.
