Our current dining set is over 14 years old. Solid glass table and 6 chairs. We have 2 kids, ages 10 and 15. Thinking of getting a counter height "gathering" table with chairs instead of the full size dining table. Any one have any experience with these. I like the idea of a leaf to add more space as needed.

Hey, I like that idea! I've never had one, but if my kids were still home, I would do that!

I have a counter height table with the leaf. I love the height and the size. My only problem is that you have to buy extra chairs or barstools at the new height if you want to add more people and then you need a place to store those extra chairs/barstools.

But I love mine so much, my mom bought one too!
