Well it depends on what type of theme your going for. I say fajitas, that way you can incorporate tacos. If you wanna make hotdogs add hamburgers. Or maybe make chili dogs.

BBQ = Hotdog (would rather have a bratsworst though!)

For grilling (high heat quick cooking), I'd pick hot dogs. Although, carne asada tacos would be good too.
For bbq (lower temperature, long cooking time), I prefer brisket or ribs.

Since you mentioned Mexican food for a BBQ, I would prefer Fajitas.

My family eats both,just depends on the heat.When it is cooler we go with Tacos...
