Hello.I am an arthritis sufferer. There are many symptoms of arthritis but the usual signs are of aches and pains in joints and perhaps some swelling in others. If you believe you are a sufferer of arthritis, you need a proper diagnosis made by a Rheumatologist as there are 200 types of arthritis. It is important to know which one you're dealing with and getting treatment for.
I suggest you spend a while looking at the UK Arthritis Care website on www.arthritiscare.org.uk which is the best source of information. You can ring them on 0808-800-4050. I've been a member for some years.Contrary to some answers, arthritis can happen to anyone and at anytime no matter how old you are. The suggestion by one that you 'have to live with it' is absolute poppycock and sadly typifies the generic response!
With 8 million sufferers of this dreadful disease, you are not alone!
All the best,
Alan L.

There are many symptoms of Arthritis because there are many different kinds of arthritis. You should ask your doctor if you think that you are suffering from a type of arthritis. Symptoms can include inflamation of the joints.
(Individual joints or multiple joints), Swelling around joints, Simple joint pain, in-ability to use some joints resulting in the inability to perform simple tasks such as fastening buttons or opening a door.
Depending on the type you may have, there are medications available to reduce swelling, control pain, and help you live a normal life, but there doesn't seem to be a cure yet...sorry

A dull ache when you bend joints... fingers, wrists, knees.
It has to be consistant... if you are only aching for a couple of days then it could be due to an injury you don't remember or maybe you are just tired or have been doing more activity than usual.
It also gets more intense when it is cold, so you might notice it more during winter.
Unfortunately there is nothing you can do. If it is really painful then maybe you can get tablets form your doctors, but it will be for life...
The typical response is to grin and bear it. It is part of life.

Pain and swelling of the joints and little nodules like bones all swollen.
There are different types of arthritis but that above is the well known type
Look it up on the Internet for more information.
What I noticed is that it has flare ups and the pain is more severe, then it goes away for a while.
Keep of acid things like orange juice and spirits like gin. They seem to aggravate it.
Of course everyone is different. Just keep an eye on when you get worse pain and look back on what you have been consuming.

Pain. Everywhere not just in your joints but it can go down your legs if you have it in your hips and knees and up your arms if you have it in your wrists and elbows. I have in the past 12 weeks had 2 knees and 2 hips and it was the most painful thing you could imagine but, I am now on the mend properly and the pain is nothing to the arthritic pain I had before the surgeries. I also now take daily glucosamine and chondroitin tablets on the recommendation of my surgeon for my other joints and I must admit they are not as painful now either.

Music forces you to eat more. According to a work by the journal Psychology as well as Marketing, soft, classical tunes encourage one to take time over your mealtime, so you consume more foods. So, switch off – silence can make you more aware of what you’re adding your mouth.
