God is too awesome to be given a trait

I don't think there is a male and female gender in God like there is in humans. God was not created in the likeness of man or of woman, man was created in the likeness of God.

God is male. He is not just a spirit either.

"And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth."

"So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him, male and female created he them."

Sounds like a man to me. If you think that female thing throws it off, your very wrong. God had to come from someone right? So would we not have Grandfather Gods? And then because you can not have children without both male and female there would have to be Grandmother Gods. So why can't there be a Heavenly Mother as well? God said let is make man in OUR image. Who KNOWS how many people he was talking to. He could've been talking to His wife and His Son as well.

It is also said that God is the Father of mankind and is constantly referred to as The Father. Fathers are...? Yes male.

I also believe and know that God and Christ do have tangible bodies of flesh and bone, while the Holy Ghost is a personage of spirit without flesh and bone.

Most religions believe that God, Christ, and the Holy Ghost are all one. The Trinity right? Well I know that they are three seperate beings. They are the Godhead. Not one but Three. The confusion is they are said to be one only because of a misunderstanding. They are one in purpose... but they are still three seperate beings.

So there you go... what I believe and a little more than you wanted eh?

Sorry and Good Luck!

Why would god be male if s/he doesn't have sex? Seems illogical.

If humans were created in god's image and we are basically formless energy ~ that which supposedly leaves the dead physical body when going to heaven or hell ~ it seems that god must be a non physical mass of energy without a physical form ~ neither male nor female.

I believe that God is both male and female. Not like a hermaphrodite, but like a deity that is half male, half female. The male half is the paternal "take care of business" side, and the maternal is the nurturing side.
They say man was made in God's image, who do you think we were made after?

Okay people, i'll set it straight. GOD is neither male or female, thats a concept HE created(male/female). But GOD chose for mankind to refer to HIM as HE or HIM, because a lot of human minds would not comprehend with the concept of GOD being neither male nor female or both. GOD is much too powerful and great to be referred to as IT.

Men want us to understand that a god is male and thinks they should be in charge. DUH!
Women would want god to be female, and understand that birth and hormones are wonderful! Duh!
I don't believe in any gods, male or female.
I enjoy the idea of being----a state of a bliss and no-mind that meditation brings to me. It is as close to a concept of godliness that I can tolerate.
It allows me to use my mind and sense and to transcend my mind, too, not throw it out with ideas like virgin births and dead guys who claim to be god coming back to life.

Can i say the answer given by 'one nice Jewish girl' is very good - i think she explains it very well.

All i can add is - Jesus came in human form as male - and Jesus is God - but this was only for His earthly life. The Holy Bible says there will be no marriages in heaven - and there will be neither male or female - interesting isn't it. I think this fits in with 'one nice Jewish girls' answer....

Generally I think of the deities as both or either, but this depends. I like the thought of there being deities for all kinds of different parts of the natural world, male and female, as suits.

" He " is both . He said that in Genesis 1.

" Let us make man in our image....male and female created he them. " (( adam and eve ))

He refers to Himself in a He/she fashion all thru the Bible. Reading it in the hebrew you see it very plainly. Just as He first made Adam and then took His wife from the mans side. She and her husband were from one flesh. I am a girl but I also have my fathers genes in me and I to some degree resemble my brothers and they me. Why ? Because I am in Gods image. He mentions the He part first to show that the male part is to protect and adore the female part. The name " Jesus " in the hebrew has the meaning of " God, in His male and female form has saved us, healed us, made us whole again as a Husband who saves His wife ". The verses say we are saved when he is Lord and He takes us to new life from within Himself. Theres the Adam and Eve thing again.
