A lot of people in here are young. But I'm 45, and I remember:

..the Apollo astronauts quoting the Bible (Genesis specifically) as they circled the moon

..that the Ten Commandments, The Robe, and other Biblical movies came on Prime Time Network TV every year

..Nativity Scenes in the Public Square, along with signs that said Merry Christmas

... driving through the neighborhood to see how every house was decorated with Christmas lights

"Christmas" and "Easter" vacation at school: No such thing as "Spring Break"

Some of you people who think that Christians are trying to take over society have it all backwards. I've been on this planet longer than most of you, and in one generation I have seen Christianity systematically attacked from every quarter, to the point that now you young people don't even know what this country was like a mere 40 years ago. How sad. Someday some of you will turn to Christ, and then you will weep, as I do, at what has become of this nation

I'm only going on 18, but we have a Nativity at the courthouse, Christmas lights and decorations and openly acknowledged Christmas break. Easter break has mostly been cut, but is acknowledged. We have a traditional Christmas play at my public high school. We even still pray at graduation. We have a Bible Club as well. I know that I am blessed in this. I have not always lived in the area that I do now, and the scene was different. Many in this nation do not even care that they are lost in a society that is far from God and His Truth.

I am a tad older than you, 49 here, but I also KNOW what we have had taken from us here on earth in regards to our Christian appearances and celebrations, but I do NOT worry to much about it.... I do find it sad, but not over alarmingly so..... Faith is something that can NOT be taken from us.... Those celebrations and traditions are just NOT important when it comes to salvation, and really have nothing to do with it..... Yes, a lot has been taken away, one step at a time, one tradition at a time, but those *things* are that, just *things*, outward things that mean nothing to God.... I would rather be able to stand before God and say, * I NEVER lost my faith*, than stand there and say , * but they took all those traditions, and I did not know where to turn !*...... the ironic, well not so ironic if you know the scripture, these things show how true and real the Bible is, things are going on in this country and the world that are fulfilling the prophecy, and they scorn still even tho the evidence is right before their BLINDED eyes..... I weep for the lost people , not for the lost traditions.... but, I know what ya mean...... go in peace...... God bless

The last decades have produced no great kindness. The fall of the empire allowed the greatest resource to flood the world....atheism.
I remember Indy with cigar shaped, open wheeled cars....a bottle of Coke for six cents....Dwight Eisenhower as president...sputnik.
There were hundreds of women dying in illegal abortion clinics in a decade instead of the millions of babies who die each year now. There was not even the slightest hint of a childhood gang existing and everyone took upon themselves the responsibility to raise their children to be respectful. People looked at the Ten Commandments as worthy of life practice and made no objection to them being taught.
As it was in the days of Noah it has become.

I remember being a young man in my first year of college, going to an all black church, causing many looks of surprise, then settling down into praising God with a smile on everyone's face.
I remember on the days following 9/11 looking up into the sky at the clouds. All traffic had been stopped. They looked the way I remembered them from my youth and wondered if anyone else saw what I was seeing.

i'm purely happening 18, yet we've a Nativity on the courthouse, Christmas lights fixtures and decorations and brazenly recognised Christmas harm. Easter harm has often been shrink, yet is recognised. we've a popular Christmas play at my public severe college. We even nevertheless pray at commencement. we've a Bible membership as nicely. i comprehend that i'm blessed in this. I even have not continuously lived interior the area that I do now, and the scene replaced into different. Many in this u . s . a . do no longer even care that they are lost in a society that's a lot from God and His reality.

I can still remember when stores were not open on Sunday because of what they called Sunday blue laws.
I can still remember leaving the front door open all night, latching the screen door in order to get air.
For the matter I can remember shoveling 2 ton of coal into the basement for winter.
And no I lived in a big city.

It does make me sad..I think that is why I love to watch the old Christmas movies so much. No one would ever think of trying to celebrate Christmas without Christ being in it back then...I mean, what Holiday are they celebrating anyway? It is just ridiculous...that is like celebrating the fourth of July without recognizing the reason for it.....Jesus is the reason for the season...without him,,,,there is no reason to celebrate.....

Well, being 44, I remember those things as well. I also remember other things from the 60's and 70's that no longer are. It means we have lived long enough to see our world change. And it doesn't always seem for the better, does it?

i am only 25 and remember these things, (all but the applo astronauts)... its sad that our society has taken such a turn, and so quickly at htat!! it just makes ya wonder what it will be like in just a couple of years!

my small little town held on to the simplicities of nativity scenes, and town square cmas decor as long as it possibly could... now, the only place you will find anything biblically relating to christmas, is inside a church.. not even outside of it, for fear of vandalization, or just ppl bein crybabies... its sad that ppl say, " i dont wanna drive by that and see a nativity scen!".. SO WHAT?!? lots of ppl DO!! so now, all of the sudden, if we want to see anything biblically pertaining to christmas, we have to go inside the church.. am i the only one who sees the problem there?? there are enough christians in this town, and in this country to stand up for Jesus, and get things back in order.. but sadly, a lot of "christians" dont have much backbone, and are more concerned with being p.c and not offending the select few, insted of not offending the majority! it does make me very sad to know that only 14 years ago, i watched the movies you spoke of every year on network television with my parents, and it was a great family time, and now, my kids will not get to experience things like that.. they will never know of a more simple and loving time... it really does break my heart.

RICH: i think you need to tone it down a notch or 2 and get off that horse you seem to be so high on! soldiers did die for religious freedom among other things.... but! they did not die defending our country so that christians have to tip toe around the atheist and watch all things important to us be taken away, just so atheist wondt be offended!! its seems that there is ALWAYS an atheist offended!! when will ppl stop blaming the problem on christians, and start lookin deeper into who is doin all the cryin and complainin? and dont get me wrong, i understand why you atheist do it... cause the government has bent over backwards tryin to make things easier for the minority, and you guys know that all it takes is one or 2 complaints to get things changed.... what about th EIGHTY-FIVE percent of americans who want the things that you few complain about?? why do you feel like you, as a minority are entitled to things, like, freedom of religion, etc, but christinas arent?? if you dont want to watch the 10 commandments on network t.v..CHANGE THE CHANNEL! if you dont want to see nativity scenes at a church, LOOK STRAGHT AHEAD!! who are you to tell someone what they can or cant have in their own yard?? and no, churches are not government property, like some think, so, if you believe so much in the separation of church and state, leave the church out of your atheistic beliefs and let them have their nativity scenes and hush about it!!

I don't know where you all are from but most places here (Mid-Atlantic) put up "holiday" decoration and lights. I still drive my daughter around to look at the house that go all out and there are plenty of them. There are still Biblical movies and TV shows, in fact last year wasn't there a movie released called Nativity Story?

Yes, we use term "spring break" at our school but we have students that are not Christian so why would we be exclusive? There are many other religious holidays that fall duing Christmas and Easter. Sure, they may not be important to you but they are to those who celebrate them. If your feeling sad because the word "Christmas" is not so widely used these days then think of how those other people felt when the name of their (just as important) holiday was NEVER used?

Sorry to burst your bubble but there have always been people of other religions in this country and it is just recently that they have been (rightfully)acknowledged. As a matter of fact, this time you remember so fondly was full of injustices to those in the minority. Some people were even beaten or killed for their "differences". Ah yes, the fond memories... (NOT!!)

edit- "Children nowadays hear a totally different story about the founding of America."
Yeah, it's called the truth. No more happy happy white Christian folk taming those unholy heathen Indians.

I remember those things but nothing stays the same, every thing changes, some for the good and some not. Don't cry one day God will make everything perfect.
