At 15 miles per day it would take you about 12 days. That would be walking there direct along roads and would be a very unpleasnt experience - concrete and pollution. The ideal way to walk from London to Manchester would be to use Britain's wonderful network of off road public footpaths and take in the best of the beautiful rural landscape. Leaving London I'd walk west along the River Thames to Henley on Thames in Oxfordshire; then accross the Chiltern Hills to Bourton on the Water in the Cotswolds where I'd join the 'Heart of England' long distance path to Stafford. Then I'd
make my way accross the Peak District National Park to Manchester. Planning your walk you should use Ordnance Survey 'Landranger' Maps; the British Tourist Board will help you with information on places to stay, and along the way you'll experience every type of unique English natural landscape from the chalk hills of the Chilterns covered with Beech Woods to the wild limestone peaks of the Peak District. Plan to spend about 3 weeks on this walk. It would be a shame to rush it.

Using a fairly short route, its 200 miles.
I walked the West highland way, 95 mile injust under a week carrying all my kit (tent, stoves and fuel, clothes etc...). Based on that I would say 2 weeks.
However if you travelled light and long days then I think it is possible to walk 30 miles a day (9 hours walking). 30 miles, 20 miles, about 7 days and that is good going I think.
