We are having the usual turkey, chickens, roast pork, ham etc, & roast potatoes & pumpkin, witha vegetable gratin made of cauliflower, brocolli & carrot. You boil them together for a few minutes till starting to soften, drain & make a cheese sauce. Place all the vegies in a casserole dish(size depends on how many you're cooking for) cover with the prepared cheese sauce, sprinkle more grated cheese on top & put in med-hot oven till golden brown on top.We also have green beans, zuchini, green peas etc, whatever we have in the garden.

I am staying home and cuddling up next to the fire with my hubby and new baby. No big meal, no fuss. I will stock the fridge with yummy stuff we can graze on throughout the day and put out if company drops in.

Veggies and dip, cheeses, fruit, spreads and crackers, great deli cold cuts and sandwich fixings, and all those lovely trays and tins of treats and cookies. I may put a nice pot of soup on the stove or in the slow cooker in case something more substantial is wanted - beef stew or clam chowder.

For home I am making a spanish dish; Pernil & Arroz con gandules, candied yam, and collard greens. My aunt is making lemon bars for me. To take to dinner at my family house (everyone brings a few dishes) will be a seafood (lobster, scallops, & shrimp) & rice casserole, and a fruit, jello, & cookie trifle. I don't know what the rest of the dinner will entail, but I know it will be a lot and delicious.

Strangely enough starting last year we had steak, shrimp , baked potatoes and salad. Everyone was tired of the holiday foods. All of the family decided to do it again this year as well. That way we are not in the kitchen cooking all Christmas day and everyone is able to enjoy.

I second the post by "saved by". I think my fam and I are going non-traditional this year. We're tired of all the food that is SO heavy, you have no choice but to go to sleep afterwards...and then you miss the holiday!
I'm probably making some pasta (I'm a vegtarian) and my other family members are having some seafood.

Last year we had meatloaf with all the fixings and a pork roast. This year I am going to do a standing rib (I think), mashed potatoes, carrots, fresh baked rolls, and a staple of our holidays jello.

Many Italian families, like mine, never have turkey, or ham for a Christmas Eve dinner. The following is a menu of items that my wife and I will be serving at our house on Christmas Eve. We sent out these menus in October, and as of this mornings mail we received all the menus back with the choices of food each individual wants to eat for dinner. Dinner starts at 2:00 pm and normally ends around midnight. The entire nights festivities (including a visit from Santa for the kids) lasts til 3 am or so. We've been doing this every year for the past 15 years. This year we expect 45 people.
