what do the millimeters mean on lenses? the lower the number means what? and the higher the number means what? when a lens is 18-200mm the price is 579, but then a 80-200mm is over 800 bucks. why the big difference?

Those measurements are the zoom range.

200mm = nice zoom
18mm = wide angle

Another thing that fluctuates the cost is the aperture of the lens, that is the hole that lets the light through. The bigger this hole gets, the more you pay for the lens.
