After my baby daughter turned 1 year old she was done with milk and would not drink it for nothing. I stated preparing smoothies for her with fresh fruit, mostly strawberries and bananas. She loved this and keeps asking for it up until now. She is 3 years old. It's important to use fresh fruit. Other alternatives are cantaloupe ( I thought it was weird to mix with milk but actually tastes really good) or guavas if you can get them. In Mexico we do it with a great variety of fruits that unfortunately aren't easily available here...

On the other hand she totally loves cheese and yougurt, so I didn't worry much about the lack of milk drinking

Assuming you are referring to cows milk - our youngest (of 3) has just turned 2 and has consistently refused cows milk since 12 months. However, I answered a question here on something else, and another answerer came up with the suggestion of mixing it in with her current formula in ever increasing amounts until she will drink it neat. Can't imagine why I haven't done it before now, my only excuse is that I have two other children at different stages and it just hadn't occurred to my busy mind. I've only just started this today and have to say its working! I am keeping her on toddler milk until she is 3 if I can as it has many more vitamins and minerals than cows milk and my son benefitted hugely whereas our eldest lucked-out, but I only really want her to have one big drink per day of formula. I do hope this is remotely helpful. Its recommended that two 7oz milk/formula drinks per day are optimum, so do keep trying. All the best.

My son is having that problem at the moment (he is 13 months) and will only drink a few oz in the morning, some days non at all. i went to speak to my health visitor and she said that i would need to ensure he had 3 sources of calcium a day. I buy high calcium yogurts and make sure he has cereal with lots of milk, cheese spread on toast to help make sure he is having the correct daily amount.

I am struggling with this problem with my little girl. She is 22 months and REFUSES to drink milk. I tried everything too. They have some pedialyte type stuff, but it is a substitue for milk, in the baby section at your local wal-mart. My daughter didn't like it but I spoke to several mothers who has kids that do. You can also substitue some milk intake with yogurt and cheese. Good Luck. I hope you find an answer, let me know if you do!

i wd suggest u stop giving him milk just for a few days.then offer it once more.during these days try milk substitutions like cheese or yougury(and add honey to that, they like it a lot).u can also make some pudding or homemade ice cream.try to give him cocoa with milk or cinnamon with milk.
u can also give him some eggs as a sort calcium till he accepts the milk.
when u offer it again, give little by little, don't give a full bottle , let him finish some and ask for more, day by day he will finish it as u wish :)
best wishes.

Does he like cheese? It could be an alternative. Also, my two year old loves the treats that Pedia-sure (?) puts out. They are on the baby isle in the grocery store. There are two different flavors. I tried a bite, and they are very good. They have all of the vitamins your little one needs, and he won't even know it's good for him!!!

Some kids just don't like milk. They don't necessarily have to drink it, as long as they are getting enough calcium elsewhere. Try yogurt or cheese instead.

maybe it gives him a tummy ache
try rice milk or lactaid (lactose free milk) or goats milk
they are all a little sweeter and easier on the stomach than cow's milk they are just a little more expensive and harder to find (try health food stores) but they are cheaper than pediasure

You do know that he doesn't need milk right? If a child is old enough to be weaned he NEVER needs to drink milk again. Thats what the end result of weaning is. There are pleanty of other ways to give him the right nutrients than to give him the breastmilk of a cow.
My kids have never had any other animal's milk. They have soy or rice on their cereal, but mostly drink water.
