that you you come into R&S, bash God, Christianity, etc, and then make complaints about being "preached at" every time one of us Christians dares to spread the Gospel as God has commanded us to without watering it down in fear of offending people who want to live life their own way?
You're always accusing Christians of brainwashing people, so why do you yourselves try to brainwash people into believing that God is a sky fairy?
If it is so urgently important to you that people are allowed to decide for themselves, then why don't you let people do so rather than trying to brainwash them into being atheists and insulting their intelligence while stroking your own egos with claims as "atheism is the only intelligent choice"?

In case you are under the mistaken presumption that I am implying that the above description fits -all- atheists, I'm not. The ironic part is that a good ammount of the very same people who will be the first to object to my wording; the very same people who automatically think that, when I say "atheists" I -must- mean -all- atheists- rather than the atheists to whom this question is addressed to, are most likely offended because I have exposed them for who they are. The ones who don't fit the bill, as far as I'm concerned, have no reason to get offended, angry, etc. if the description doesn't fit them because they should know that it doesn't.

I feel your frustration. I'm a peaceful person but some of these bashing sessions get on my nerves. If some of you hate religion so much then why come talk about. I am a Christian and I'm proud to be so and nothing anyone can say or do will pull me from what I believe. I don't believe because I'm unintelligent or impaired in any way, I believe because I have had an experience of God's love in my life. Just because some of you have not experienced it doesn't mean that it's not real.

CHRISTIANS: Why is it..?
that you you come into R&S, bash evolution, science, logic, reason, skepticism, etc, and then make complaints about being "duped" every time one of us atheists or agnostics dares to offer the idea that God may indeed not exist, that we and our loved ones may indeed become mere fertilizer at the end of life, and that there may be NO afterlife, as you are so convinced will NOT happen, without watering it down in fear of offending people who want to live life their own way?
You're always accusing atheists or agnostics of brainwashing people, so why do you yourselves try to brainwash people into believing that God exists beyond a shadow of a doubt?
If it is so urgently important to you that people are allowed to decide for themselves, then why don't you let people do so rather than trying to brainwash them into being Christians and insulting their intelligence while stroking your own egos with claims as "belief in God is the only intelligent choice"?

Your question is wrought with absolutes (every atheist "come{s} into R&S, bash{es} God, Christianity, etc, and then make{s} complaints about being "preached at". Also all atheist try to "brainwash" others.)
----Peter 3:14-----
"But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you are blessed. 'and do bot be afraid of their threats, nor troubled.' "
I think most people who are advocating atheism and christanity are merely doing what they feel is right. Also try to remember that a question about the thoughts and actions of around 850 million people is almost impossible to accurately answer.

Because of events like those of the raped woman being sentenced to 90 lashes and the teacher being charged for naming a teddy bear "Mohamed". Not to mention the tax dollars being spent on "pseudo-science" in public schools.
In the first case, these are the results of religious beliefs and morals influencing civil laws. This is a very bad idea that believers in this country need to understand. In the second case, it has a direct effect on my children's educations and I want them to learn actual science, not poor examples of it.
Finally, I do not "bash". I will state that there is no evidence for any of the miracles or events (such as the exodus) in the bible, but this is factual not bashing.

So you have proof I've done this? Perhaps you've read all the answers I've given over 1.75 year period to be able to generalize like that?
Does it shake your faith so much to be offered something that runs counter to your belief? It must if you get rattled just because some, not all, atheists refer to your deity as a "sky fairy".
People can decide for themselves, they have that right. I have the right to offer a counter view. This is an open page where anyone has the chance to give their thoughts and opinions.
Now, when you do go through and read all 11,000 some odd answers I've given and if you can cite specific examples then you can include me in what you just ranted about. Until then, perhaps you should think before you generalize.

Can we just stop with the "brainwashing" crap? No one can "brainwish" anyone simply by stating their beliefs. I am Jewish and I have been on this site for a long time and I have never once felt that atheists were trying to "brainwash" me. Debate and discussion is NOT brainwashing.

This is basically a rant regarding brand labeling - not all atheists (and I'm not saying I am one) are like that.
Some are, some aren't - just like some Christians are bible thumpers, some aren't.
I don't think being an atheist unentitles them to being interested in religion - after all, it affects all aspects of life regardless of if you're religious or not, and they have a right to care about such things (as we all should).
Thus, unequivocally they have every right to be here and to ask questions.
Does atheism only mean disbelief in the Christian God though? No - but your question seems to think it's only directed as such.
And sometimes I think atheists forget this, too.

Your Religion Exploits People's weaknesses.
You don't ever try converting an educated man or woman.
Just children from birth, the mentally handicapped, Ignorant, stupid.
And the List goes on.
I'm just to depressed to carry on, so I'll leave someone else to carry the torch.
It only takes simple questions to topple over your Christian Beliefs. Simple questions even a kid can ask.
But when those questions come up you bring up the idea of Faith.
I can understand.
You don't want to be disturbed..
You are happy with your beliefs and don't like your tree to be shook.
Now, would you do the same for us?
Stay out of our Backyards.
Don't shake out trees.
But then... If you REALLY believed in your religion than maybe it's your duty to be a pain in the @ss..

I think you Xians started trying to indoctrinate me WAY long before I ever considered POINTING and LAUGHING at your quaint, but nevertheless, childish beliefs in Invisible Sky Critters.
Y'all have been using all your powers for eons to crush any individual thought or inquiry.
There; that'll do for now.
I come here for the comedy.
I want to thank YOU!, sunshine, for brightening my day.
The Pot and Kettle stuff and the Irony is something y'all do too well.
I congratulate you.

Facts help people decide for themselves.
I can't speak for other atheists, but I come here because I like to talk about religion. I think it is a terrible thing that should be eradicated.
I also come here for the pure entertainment. It's the best show on the web.
