ANOTHER thing is that your use of the word 'should' implies you have some sort of hold over me and I 'should' obey you.
Sorry to disappoint - I'm not too good at following the crowd or orders; I'll do what I want to, when it suits me, regardless if it meets your standards or approval.

I'm an atheist - this means I don't believe in higher powers.
That's it.
There are no rules, rituals, dogma, books, trinkets, tithes, gods, god-men or preachers I have to bow before and revere.

If I said that I would not be referring to anything, I would just be using a common exclamation.

It's just a phrase. It doesn't really have much of a meaning. Even believers in God say it without putting thought into it.
Saying "Oh my God" doesn't make you any more a believer in God than saying "Holy cow" makes you Hindu.

I say "Oh my God" during sex because "Oh I Am Not Yet Convinced of Your Existence" doesn't roll off the tongue as easily.

It's a phrase that pops out of my mouth involuntarily from hearing my parents say it over and over again. I also say jesus f@*#ing christ quite a bit too.

People do it without realizing it. It's an exclamation like "wow" or "ouch"
