Yes. That date is a recommended sell by date. Lettuce usually lasts much longer than that if it has been kept refrigerated and wrapped. Wash it and if any leaves are discolored, toss them out just as you would if you bought it today. Believe me you would know it if the lettuce was spoiled

You should be very careful when using any produce that has expired. It is probably good for several days after the use by date as markets use use bys to maintain fresh product. If the produce is turning color or not crisp as it was, don't use it.

Assuming it's not too old. (a week or two beyond date) yea. It'll be fine. You might want to check and discard any brown leaves. Also I assume that it has been refrigerated the entire time.

if the lettuce or spinach isn't slimy or smell bad then yes you can eat it.

if it is slimy no but if still crisp and not smelly ok
