hard polytheism seems more like actual polytheism

Pretty much.

It can be a good first step for people not yet ready to believe in the gods.

Usually by the time you've met your second you've figured out they aren't all one.


But, let's be honest. "Soft" Polytheism also includes those people who think all gods are objects of our collective unconscious and not actually gods.

Or as I call them, atheists.

Silly Jungian atheists, specifically.

I guess it has. I'm not sure why they try to distinguish it in that way. Polytheism is the belief in more than one God, that each God and Goddess has their own nature and personality. Believing that there is one source with many "faces"/aspects is Monotheism. Maybe they just wish to separate themselves from Mainstream Monotheists? *shrug*
