I acquired some tickets in 2001-2003 and they are still on my record. Does anyone know how long it will take to get off? I live in Illinois, for the record.

The information will always be there. The insurance company usually only looks back 3 years. For court purpose, around 5 years depending on the charge.

Most offenses stay on your license for at least 5 years.

Some items, like DUI, never come off.

The only item that should be off would be the 2001, maybe 2002. They only update the databases a couple times a year, so if you need to have it updated right away (like for an insurance change), call up your local DMV to see about having your record correct ASAP.

It depends upon which "record" you're asking about. Insurance records are normally maintained for a period of three to five years.

Criminal histories are permanent. However, general traffic offenses do not normally go on criminal histories.
