Debit card on the playstation store?

I heard that you can pay with this method but if i go 'add billing information' on my PS3 user area / PSN account it says 'add credit card information like type of card etc'.
How do I pay with a debit card and can I pay with paypal or anything other then credit card?

Im in the UK just in case it makes a difference

I use my VISA debit card to make purchases on the Playstation Store.

When it says to add credit card information, it's basically the same information as a debit card. And when you make purchases by using the debit card on the Playstation Store, it will be taken out of your checking account and it wont be treated like a credit card purchase where you have to pay for it later.

And, I don't think that you can pay with Paypal on the Playstation Store because I haven't seen that option before on the Playstation Store.
