My name is Themi, I'm 17, and I go to the gym regularly. I started going to the gym about a year ago. Then I weighed about 235lbs. Currently I am 200lbs. When I first came to the gym, I did mostly muscle work outs. It was only in the last 2 or 3 months that I really started doing cardio, and thats where i lost the most weight. Although I've lost 35lbs, my "man boobs" aren't going away. I think I may have made the mistake of building up too much muscle in my chest area and now it's hard to lose the fat there. Well, I have a healthy diet, and i exersise regularly. I definatley noticed a decrease in the fat around my waiste and belly, but I wish those man boobs would just go away. I am not having surgery, and I am not taking pills. If you have experience with my issue and you were able to solve it, please tell me how you did it. I'm already running, doing bench press, pushups, and eating healthy. Maybe i'm doing something wrong, or leaving something out of the equation.

I aguree with cluck, I've been there too I've gone from 220-170 over the last year. Make sure that you are changing up your chest workout, dumbell bench, incline/decline... etc. As long as you are working hard and losing weight I would just keep doing what you are doing. Having muscle under your boobs (sorry) doesn't matter, in fact muscle constantly burns calories to sustain itself so I would say the more you have in that area the better. I would just give it time and see what happens.

when I lost all my weight it came out of my chest first, then my arms, then my face, and finally my gut, it was really frustrating but it seemed to move areas like that. Just keep it up and I think you will be fine

Hi Themi,

You mention you're 17. I would say it's becuase you're still going through puberty, During puberty it's very common for men to get what is called man boobs or Gynecomastia. Right now your body is in a state of hormonal flux as your testosterone and estrogen levels bounce around a lot.

Anabolic steroids and some street drugs can have nasty side effects such as man boobs and prescription medications also.

I would give it some time and keep sticking to your diet and exercise routine. If after puberty you're still experiencing this problem and you're not experiencing side effects due to any other factors then I would seek further guidance.

"I purchased the free pills I got 15 and paid only 4.99 and I was under the impression that if I couldn't take them or they didn't work for me I could cancel at any time they have a number on the bottle of pills and it is suppose to be a 24 7 line but nobody never answers or returns your call if you don't cancel you are charged 149.95 that they take out of your credit card and even if you could cancel they will charge you 49.95. I read the terms and that wasn't in there no where I think it is a scam cause the emails I sent come back every thing I have tried to do to cancel this is a dead end lucky for me I use a green dot card I can close it out at any time and buy a new one and that is what I am doing but still this place shouldn't be aloud to take advantage of people this way and I am doing everything. I can not stop them. I have sent emails to all my family and friends that warn them of this company and they will pass it on to there friends and family the internet is a powerful tool if this company can use it to make money like this I can use it to warn people about them. Themi, as you can see from the answers sent in to you, different people respond in different ways to the same exercise....I've never had the "man boob" problem, but one exercise I did for the upper body that had the best ever effect on my pecs were "dips" For me, they were lots more effective than bench presses or pushups.....as your pecs put on more muscle, you should see a gradual disappearance of your "baby fat" Stay with it!! Hope that works for you!!

The only way to get rid of that (without surgery) is aerobics and cardio thats works your chest, like push ups.

I would try to do as many pushups as i can 1 hour before breakfast. no weights or anything on your back.

that way you would excercise your chest on an empty stomach, and the first source of energy the chest finds is the fat directly around it.

good luck

Some people just have that problem and the only way to solve it is surgery because it's genetic. Or that just may be the last area that you lose weight and you may have to lose more. But don't go overboard with the weight loss.

I'm a guy and I've always wanted to play the flute. A common phrase from the middle schoolers was that it was a "girl's instrument." I say, "Hogwash."
