Hi Sandy. Nice inspiring verse.

This passage describes God's nature and the relation that man has to God. "God is light" is depicting the essence of his character in holiness and purity.

It is obvious that John is speaking of believers in this passage. He is urging them to seek proper fellowship with God, realizing that he has been purchased by God through Christ's death on the Cross(1 corinthians 6:20).

Take care,
Gilbert

Well Sandy according to Proverbs the law is light

Pro 6:23 For the commandment [is] a lamp; and the law [is] light; and reproofs of instruction [are] the way of life:

so therefore i would say in order to walk in light we must keep the Law.

and according to Leviticus the life is in the blood.

Lev 17:11 For the life of the flesh [is] in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it [is] the blood [that] maketh an atonement for the soul.

So therefore without the blood of Christ one is actually dead. Spiritually dead that is

So then, where do all the excuses for sinning come from?? It certainly is not the Spirit of Yahweh. The next verse is taken out of context so much that it becomes ingrained in some minds that it is impossible to walk int he steps of Yahshua, who did no sin. No one want to "AWAKE TO RIGHTEOUSNESS AND SIN NOT" cause they they can't, and why is that? Because they have a false Messiah and conversion, They are not encouraged to live above sin, OR they give more credit to the power of SIN than they do to the POWER OF THE SPIRIT OF YAHWEH.

As they think in their heart so are they....they think themselves to be sinners all the time, they will continue in that mind set, AND THEREFORE will NOT be walking in the light as he is in the light.

He promises to cleanse us from ALL UNRIGHTEOUSNESS, not leave us in it to continue it at regular intervals. It is an accomplished work.

Lots of folks will be saying..."Master, Master...did we not do this and that, and he will say, DEPART FROM ME, I NEVER KNEW YOU.

It's a really simple concept, in my opinion.

To walk in the light is to trust God instead of anything else. We study the Bible to find out what God has promised, and then we hold onto His promises over all else. As this act is called an act of faith, we let out our faith like a lake.

The Lake of Faith
As we allow our faith to be expended to our southern river, God keeps us full so that we don't run out of 'water'. And as we continue to trust God with acts of faith, plants begin to grow from the life we bring to the people to the south. God begins to increase our faith, and better things grow according to His will. So our lake becomes larger, and is better at being constant, we are overflowing with God's power because He always can give us more water, as long as we trust Him.

The apostle John who wrote that verse gave us his answer when he later wrote the Gospel of John. In chapter 1 he said of Christ, "In Him was life and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness but the darkness did not comprehend it.... 'Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!... He who sent me [John the Baptist] to baptize with water said to me, 'Upon whom you see the Spirit descending and remaining, this is he who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.' And I have seen and testified that this is the Son of God.'"

The Spirit of God searches out all those who long to walk in the light (as opposed to this world's sinful darkness) and draws them to Christ. The Spirit gives comprehension of Christ as being the light of the world.

HIS light is HIS GLORY.. raed exodus 33 wher Moses asked THE LORD TO show him HIS GLORY.. GOD answered I will make all MY goodness pass before you....HIS goodness? HIS CHARACTER , IS WHAT HE showed to Moses.. and what was moses' reply? he included himself with the ISRAELITES BY SAYING WE .... Moses felt so unworthy that he saw his sin..and this is where we walk in HIS LIGHT, OR CHARACTER.. we are to be like CHRIST.....
