Ask him straight up if he's a friend cos he likes you (then why would he want to change you?)
OR
if he's a 'friend' only cos he sees you as a potential conquest.
You may have to learn to debate to convince him where you stand ... in doing so you may open his eyes to his delusion.
If you learn to debate you may make yourself stronger in your knowledge there are no Invisible Sky Critters that swoop around taking people's lives and NOT saving Africa's children from abuse and starvation.
Epicurus: Either God wants to abolish evil, and cannot; or he can, but does not want to. If he wants to, but cannot, he is impotent. If he can, but does not want to, he is wicked. If God can abolish evil, and God really wants to do it, why is there evil in the world?
Seneca: Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful.

Try to convert THEM.
Or... lay out your reasons for believing what you believe.
Then look them in the eye and say 'These here is my rules, an' if you don't agree with them then lets just not talk about this. Ever.'
Then ask: 'Hug time now?'
Religion is such a silly thing to come between fiends.
Don't let it stand in the way of a friendship.

When he starts trying just stand up and walk away, hang up the phone, or disconnect from IM. If you can't get away just don't speak until he gets the picture and stops yapping about it. Sometimes you have to give a lil tough love to get the point across that you're not interested in being converted.

Be polite and say thanks for the opportunity that you have given me. Unfortunately I don't want to believe at this point of time. Also just remind him that God gave us the option to believe and even though you've tried I'm not interested. But don't stop being friends with him. If the church has a youth group you might be able to go to that. But if you haven't given it ago. Go for it. In the end it's your choose though!

Explain to your friend that you don't want to debate the issue. You're friends for reasons outside religion and if he can't prevent himself from trying to force his own beliefs on you then you'll have to take some time away from him. That's what I have done in the past. It seemed to work well.

Tell him/her that the more they push you the further and further you get from their religion.
Or you could try and ignoring them :)
your friend is not being respectful of your decisions and though they may be trying to help you they are going about it in the wrong way obviously.

Nah...just tell him to STFU and leave the subject alone. If he's going keep badgering you, he's not worth keeping as a friend.

There are a couple of ways to do so, but they all involve telling your friend to stop. You just need to find the right way to say it.

Don't worry, your friends can't convert you.
Only the word of God in your heart will do that. I'm pretty sure they understand that also.
They know taht one day you will face your creator and they can enter heaven knowing they shared the good news they knew with you. If you don't get into heaven it won't be because you never knew, it will be because you chose not to accept the gift.

Tell him that religions is a subject that is off limits. You respect his right to his religion, and you demand the same respect from him. If he can't handle that, then you can't be friends with him.
