Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;

In the Life, works, and charism given above, this one calls attention, explain why it impressed you?

Sorry, but it didn't impress me any one bit at all.

Why would you assume that all would be impressed?

I use the Prayer of Peace as my devotional every day and it's refrain "make me a channel [instrument] of your [thy] peace" as my mantra for centering prayer. The full version:

Lord make me
an instrument of your peace

Where there is hatred,
Let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, Joy.

O Divine Master grant that I may
Not so much seek to be consoled
As to console;
To be understood,
As to understand;
To be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned.
And it is in dying that we are
Born to eternal life.

Amen

Why does it impress me? It reconciles all things. It starts by taking for granted that God is beyond our words and that that Divine Ground has a Way, a Tao. That way is love, pardon, peace, healing. And by bringing our own wills, our own egos into line with it we can be its instruments. In Luke 10:25-37 Jesus gives an exposition why this would essentially be living eternally right here and now, no waiting around and obsessing about an afterlife.

Thanks for posting those beautiful words. One needs beauty within their soul to take them well.
I love this prayer because it reminds me that I can be an instrument of God's will. And as acting as a channel for His unlimited radiant Love energy, I can nuetralize negativity, heal wounds, and bring in what needs to come to any person or situation. His Power is that unlimited, and I am so blessed and see it as such a gift that I can be a channel for His awsome Love to flow into the world. Thanks again and God Bless you over and over.

if he were alive today he would probably be a member of PETA and shunned and tormented by evangelicals.
