"And they were told to harm no vegetation of the earth nor any green thing nor any tree, but only those men who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads. And it was granted the locusts, not to kill them, but that these should be tormented five months, and the torment upon them was as a torment by a scorpion when it strikesa man. And in those days the men will seek death but will by no means find it, and they will desire to die but death keeps fleeing from them."---Revelation 9:4-6

Yes, The locusts are to harm only those men who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads, those in Christendomwho claim to be sealed but whose recored belies that claim. (Ephesians 1:13, 14) The tormenting utterances these modern-day locusts were directed first against religious leaders of Christendom. So they were tormented into hearing publicly announced that not only were they failing to lead their flocks to heaven but they themselves would not get there.

The torment lasts for five months. Five months describes the normal lifespan of one of these insects. Therefore, it is for as long as they live that the modern-day locusts keep stinging God's enemies. The torment is so severe that men seek to die.
This is from the book that we are studying in: Revelation Its Grand Climax At Hand!

It is the stinging pronounciations against the clergy of Christendom who continue to teach and preach and promote false religious doctrines throughout the world.....
Though they run from the "truth" of God's word, they can't escape being "outed." The scorpians keep on stinging and irritating them.....but as we can see, to no avail.
To: Nemesis7... Your viewpoints are not much different than many in the world today. A lot of people think that the book of Revelation is not meant to be understood and is therefore a "mystery"
However; I beg to differ. EVERYTHING in the Bible was written for our instruction---------God does not use riddles and guesswork in dealing with us, nor does he expect us to walk blindly. 2 timothy 3:16 tells us : "That all scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, reproving and setting the record straight."

Joel 1:2 - 2:11 interprets the locust plague as a foreshadowing of the devastations that accompany the day of the Lord. In 1866, 200,000 people died in a famine in Algiers following a locust plague. Scorpions injure or kill by means of a poisonous barb in the tail.
The first woe does not affect the "servants of God" (see chapter 7:3) as typified by the Israelites who were protected from the Egyptian plagues (Exodus 8 - 11). Five months suggests a limited period of time (the life cycle of the locust or the dry season) in which the danger of a locust invasion is highest.
The symbolism used describes the woes that will fall upon the unbelieving world. The phrase "the inhabitants of the earth" refers to the wicked. However, the righteous, those who are in the new covenant relationship with Christ and whose shed blood protects them, need have no fear when the cup of God's wrath is poured out. Revelation 7:3 tells us that these events will not transpire until God has selected all the faithful believers who live during the period of tribulation.
2 Corinthians 1:21-22 tells us that 'it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come." Has God anointed you and put his Spirit in your hearts? Has he set his seal of ownership on you? If so, then you have nothing to fear.
There are some who believe only a limited number of people will receive this seal. If that is true, then not many people will survive the coming day of the Lord, the battle of Armageddon.

Those that have been left behind, and still haven't recieved Christ as thier Savior, will be tormented by locusts. Locusts normally eat vegitation--but these locust will be horrendous! The people who still have rejected Christ will be tormented so much that they will wish for death, but won't be able to die. Too bad people today continue to think that this won't happen----but it will.

The locusts will attack only those that have not accepted Jesus. And the non believers will be in so much pain and agony that they will want to die but they will have to suffer through it.
That is what I get from it.
Thank you Jesus!!

I think that men write what best fits their vision at the time...and when they want something to happen, they will bend that vision to fit their desire...and when necessary, they will bend facts so they can bend their vision, so they can reach their desire.
Doesn't Jesus say that some of the people alive when he was would see the coming of his kingdom? Are there people that old still around?

Revelation was a dream, and it is best not to try to interpert it. The majority of it is symbolic and spoken in euphemisms. However, from what I have been taught, scooter.. above me is more or less correct.
But like I said, Revelation was a dream. It is a prophecy that will be fulfilled, but it is a dream and very hard to understand.
