First off you don't want to do anything that you can't maintain. Are you willing to eat special K for months or the rest of your life? Strict diets do not work because they do not teach you how to grocery shop/dine/eat for the rest of your life. I wouldn't buy into any magic pills or shakes either. This is what works for me:
I take a multi-vitamin
Drink plenty of water
No white carbohydrates only whole grains (look for 100% whole grain)
Make sure you get enough fruits and vegtables
2 egg omelette with veggies or Fiber 1 mixed with Dannon Activia Light for breakfast
I drink my coffee black (2-5 cups) a day, however you can get a nonfat late from a coffee chain with no flavored syrup (skim milk is good for you).
I bring my lunch to work, lean lunch meat rolled with reduced fat provolone, & honey or dijon mustard, maybe some baby carrots with fat free ranch, celery with reduced fat cream cheese, and maybe a fiber one bar for desert.
Since it's the flu season and clementines are in season, buy the crate at your grocery store and eat them for snacks... each one has about 20-25 calories and packed wtih vit C.
I cook my own dinner and make sure to keep it under 400 calories with lean meat, veggies, low fat dairy, and maybe a half piece of whole grain bread.
100 calorie chocolate pudding packs are great for dessert... I sometimes indulge in that after my nightly jog.
Keep in mind that you will go out to eat, remember these things... eat off the 'healthy' menu if they have one and if not... dressing on the side (vinaigrette if they have it), grilled, only eat half of the bun (top or bottom), order WATER, ask them to leave out the bacon or cheese or other fattening item (just leaving out 1 or 2 items will drastically cut the calories on a salad or in an entree), also try to leave 1/3 on your plate (but don't leave the STEAMED veggies!)
Also, if you have one bad meal in a day as long as the portion size is small you have not BLOWN it, just resume like you never missed a beat.

breakfast protein powder w/ milk
lunch small salad - either cobb, club etc....
dinner protein powder w/ milk
2-3 cups of coffee --- this would be regular old coffee not latte or mocha, the fluffy/coffee's add alot of unwanted calories to your daily diet
3 16 oz bottles of water (at least) -- drinking lots of water is very important to weight loss
calcuim, vitamin C B12 E, multi-vitamin, fiber -------- these supplements are very important as you are cutting back your normal food intake, they will help you keep your energy level up
exercise 45 - 60 minutes a day
