Hey, one of the reasons that the 60gb sells for more money is that it has the actual hardware engine to play PS2 games and is also able to play more ps1 and ps2 games than the 80gb because the 80gb does not have the hardware but has software backwards compatibility.

Another issue is that Sony has stopped making the 60gb recently and it is more harder to find them in shops. The demand for the 60gb has increased the price.

Hope this helps. Merry Xmas

The main reason why the 60GB PS3 sells for money on Ebay than the 80GB version is because it has more backward compatibility with both PS1 and PS2 games, and the 60GB PS3 is more rare nowadays because it has been discontinued.

And there is one other reason why some 60GB PS3's sell more than the 80GB PS3 and it is because many people bought 60GB PS3's back when they where $599, and they are still trying to sell it for around the same price.

the 80 gig and 60 gig are both backwards compatible with PS2 but the 60 gig has the actual PS2 computer chips inside while the 80 gig doesn't. It just plays PS2 games through emulation software. This means that the 80 gig won't play many of the PS2 games (like metal gear solid 3) The 60 gig can pretty much play all the PS2 games and since they aren't making anymore 60 gig systems the price will be higher on ebay

The 60gb is backwards compatible (it can play PS1 and PS2 games) and the 80 gb is not. some people still want to upgrade and get rid of thier old system. If you just keep your PS2, it won't matter. The older games don't look all that great on the PS3 anyway, they're better on the Ps2 because that's what they were made for.

Maybe its not in as good of shape, I've seen lots of items that should go for more and some that go for way too much. You never really know with ebay
