I am currently living in Kentucky, but in June of 2008 I will be moving to St. Charles, Missouri to go to college. I will be staying there at my friends house for $80.00 a month (includes food and everything else) My parents are paying for my college tuition, but I have to pay for the cost of moving there, a car to drive there, car insurance, gas, etc. the problem is, i currently have no money. I have a job where I make, and can save $250.00 a month. As of right this minute, if i save every cent of that I'll have $1,500.00. It will cost me $500.00 just to move there, plus the first months rent. I'll be left with $920.00 and theres no way I will be able to buy a car with that amount of money. Is there anywhere I can get help with money? Are there scholarships out there that can be used for a vehicle. I'll have to have one to get to colege and a job. Please help me out because my parents wont help me with this.

welcome to reality!!

You're basically screwed. You could join an ROTC program and have them cover your tuition and let your parents fund your life (car/ins/etc..)...but that's up to you.

Sounds like you need to apply for a student loan (many agencies have these and banks also), or for a grant. The grant is dependent upon income, assets, etc. The loans can pretty much be given to anyone, you have to start paying it back usually within 6 months of graduation. Most of the loans will be in check form and you just cash it and go. The grants are usually submitted to the financial aid office. Most of my friends got these. They are a pain to pay back BUT you need a college education to make it!

Buy a bicycle, then save up for a car. Use public transportation.
