What kind of hobbies do YOU have? That's the question you should ask yourself, then join a group that does that kind of stuff. If you google the hobby and wherever it is that you live, something will probably come up. You can even peruse the Yellow Pages, if you want, but Google is more up-to-date.
You want to meet someone who is interested in at least some of the same things you are. Those are the relationships that are the best and last the longest. It doesn't have to be an exact match; you can introduce each other to new activities that one of you hasn't done before.
Avoid taking up a hobby just so you can meet someone. There are plenty of girls out there already interested in much the same things.

When I was your age I met alot of girls doing things I liked. Skiing (on the slopes and at the lodge) Bookstores and Music stores, that way you can discuss common interests.
One of the best places is if a club has a music act you like (Not an ampatheatre with seats) you will find it quite easy to meet girls. Really you can meet girls anywhere, but it's always cool to meet one involved in an interest you share.
Dont look for girls at Bars (not including the previously mentioned clubs/concerts combo) Very little good ever comes from a relationship begun in a bar setting, take my word for it.
EDIT - Also forget meeting girls at work, much more trouble than it is worth.

You should pursue hobbies you enjoy if you want to find a compatible partner -- you shouldn't be faking interest in something just to meet girls as the relationship would be based on a lie.
Of course, if all you're looking for are casual flings / one-night stands that's a different story.

Go to the bar on friday and saturday.And church on sunday.Will meet many but if you see the same girl at both places dont talk to her

School--try a college fitness class
Grocery store.. try the cooking classes
Church.. bible study classes
Things that YOU like to do.. if you take classes or seminars, those people you meet will be into those things...

Church and college. If you are a Christian man, the church is a gold-mine filled with modest women (most are), just treat them right like you would your sister. :3
college is a great place to but it can make you only choose women who are "attractive" .
