Crawling is actually not a milestone listed on developmental charts. The main reason is that not all babies crawl. Crawling is also not a milestone that is required for other skills to develop. If a baby is going to crawl, he/she typically is going to perfect this skill around 7-10 months. Of course, as with all milestones, this is simply an average so you will find some babies as young as 5 months crawling and some as old as 12 months and it can be perfectly normal for that individual baby. 3 months old is quite young for crawling. Many babies haven't even rolled over yet at this age. Being able to hold up her head while lying on her tummy at 3 months is right on track, though. Generally, between 6-9 months, babies will learn some way of mobility that suits them. My youngest daughter preferred getting places by scooting around on her bottom. She could crawl at about 12 months, but she rarely used that method to get where she wanted to go. She didn't walk until she was 15 months old. My grandson is almost 7 1/2 months old. He can get up on his hands and knees but as of yet has not been able to figure out how to get things moving, but he does rock back and forth really well. All babies are different and learn new skills at a pace that fits their developmental style and level. If your daughter is going to be a crawler, it'll happen when she is ready.

my kids all crawled at 6 months, which i think is pretty typical. i'm sure kids do it earlier and later. some kids actually don't crawl at all ... they go right from sitting or scooting around on their butts or tummies to walking. that's why it's not usually listed among the standard baby milestones. it really doesn't matter when or if she ever does it. (and i promise when she's 10 you won't know or care which of her peers crawled early, late, or not at all).
don't be in too much of a hurry. when they can crawl they can get in more trouble. :-)

Sounds like you are expecting things that she isn't ready for. My daughter (was a preemie) and is in physiotherapy because she isn't crawling and is a year old. Maybe wait until your doctor says there is a problem. I am more concerned that you think "she dont seem to give a damn". They don't send out the harvard acceptances based on when kids crawl. Love them, nurture them, and life will happen for them!

my daughter just turned 4 months yesturday and developing very well like yours, she has held her head up since birth, "talks", and "stands" when held. but, her muscles are not strong enough to hold her entire body up right now, i think your daughter and mine will be crawling around 6 months.

my son started to crawl when he was 4 months. try to help her by putting toys on her playpen or crib, so she can have something to reach and to crawl for.
