I have a 6 yr old yellow lab and i noticed her randomly shaking twice. Yesterday she was laying on the couch and all of a sudden started to shake for about a minute or 2. She just did the same thing about 5 minutes ago. Does anyone know why she would be doing this?

She is showing signs of fear and timid. If she has not always been this way, then something has happened in her life to scare her. Some times a move, or new people, or a new animal. Something has happened to her. Someone has maybe kicked her???? Now this is assuming it is not a low blood sugar problem. And only the vet can answer that.

You will need to build up her confidence. Do not approach her to pet her, no eye contact, no toughing. Let her come to you> If she shake and show these signs and you get in the floor and tell her good dog, mommies he here, you are condoning her behavior and telling her that you approve of her shaking and fears. Give her attention when she comes to you and don't pet her when she is in a fear/shaking state. Have you friends, not attempt to touch her or comfort her. Again, no touch no eye contact. You need to find an activate she likes that will build her confidence. A nice power walk on the roller blades, or some catch or Frisbee.

Lots of luck with her.

I had a border collie that did this and would also clench his jaw. We took him to the vet and found out he was having mild seizures. You should take your dog to the vet right away. My dog's were mild and infrequent so we did not put him on any meds but the vet was still able to properly diagnose the problem and was able to give us some good tips to help the dog through them.

Could be as simple as a bad dream, could be seizures, either way I would go to the vet ASAP. If it's nothing then you wasted a little time, but if there is something wrong then you could be saving your dog!

Sounds like mild seizures to me. Take her to the vet to have testing done to confirm.

Could be earmites. Earmites are microscopic bugs in pets ears that eat ear wax. Untreated they can travel to the brain and cause seizures even death.

You really need to have her checked by a vet - Nobody here will be able to tell you why she's shaking...

She could be having a seizure. It would be best to consult your veterinarian ASAP for advice and possible causes of this.
