My pastor mentioned that Advent starts soon. I don't have a clue what it is. Anyone?

The way he spoke about it, was like its something similar to lent. He was saying, Advent's starting soon. Like it's ongoing.

it means coming and this advent is the build up to the birth of Jesus normally the 4 sundays before christmas day.
