I ran about 2 miles on the treadmill yesterday. My shoes are only a few weeks old. Today I noticed that my lower back (the right side in particular) is sore! Very strange. I do weight training, so it's not like it's a muscle I never use or something. Could this be due to the run, or maybe I did something funny to it somehow?

i think its the impact if its ur back --- your body should get used to it though

running through it for one or two weeks should make it feel better
but... if the pain is unbearable or is gettin worse go to a doctor

1st, make sure you have running shoes on and not basketball shoes and etc. 2nd, your back might be sore cause your not used to running for an extended amount of time, and it could be by how you run (form). you might be flat footed or on your toes, and regardless of either you should stretch out first.

I would examine the soles of your shoes carefully to see if there is any unusual wear patterns.

If the soles show clear wear areas then in may be that your stance or your shoes need changing.

Or it could be weak lower back and ab muscles. Do some light strengthening exercises for abs and back.

Maybe you're not using appropriate shoes to run.

Quite simply...you need to add a stretching routine to your workout. look into some lower body stretches.

it is most likely from running..but do you run often? If so then you shouldn't all of the sudden become sore.Have it checked out.
