This theory comes from the text in Genesis 6:1-4:

And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, that the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. There were giants [nephilim] in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

There is a lot of debate on how to interpret the "sons of God", with some saying that it means the (fallen) angels, and others saying that they were Adam's natural descendents.

Some see the fact that the offspring were giants as being an indication (but far from proof) that the fathers of these giants were the fallen angels (also known as demons). However, this does not necessarily have to be the case. Some Bible scholars believe that Adam himself was much larger than what the average man is today, since he was the first man created, and since the environment in the garden of Eden was less hostile. This does not entirely answer the question either, though, since it is obvious from the text that not all mankind were giants, and yet all mankind descended from Adam. Some believe that the "pure" Adamic line, descended from Seth, were these "sons of God", and might have maintained a larger physical and spiritual stature than those other men who descended from Cain.

This is one of many things that will probably remain a source of discussion and debate until we are able to learn at the feet of Jesus!

Even so, come Lord Jesus!

The book of ENOCH and the book of Jude speak of "angels" that came and took women of Adam's descent and they bar children, usually termed Nephalim and Rephaim. These are your mixed offspring and their descendents which Goliath was a descendant of one of these offspring. They are still here burried in the genes of certain groups.
Jud 1:6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.

These original angels were chained up but the offspring are NOT angels, they are mixed. When the flood drowned the flesh part of the being, the angelic part remained and therefore demons. They live in the waters, and sometimes can possess physical creatures such as humans and animals. The demons wanted to be put into the swine in the days of Yahshua, and when they got in the swine, the herd ran into the ocean and drowned, but the demon simply went home and caused the rejection by the locals of Yahshua, which he knew was to happen, as prophecied.
2Pe 2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast [them] down to hell, and delivered [them] into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;

There is mention in the bible of angels mixing with humans- Nephilim I believe they were called. They were described as giants. So, I can see where the idea may have come from.

King James Bible:

"There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown."

There is mention of angels having sex with humans and producing a race of giants. These would have been wiped out in the flood. Of course, the angels could have continued to do so after the flood, and then gotten bored with it later. Anyway, some people believe that Goliath was a descendant of the original giants.

Given that there is no evidence of angel DNA, a giant race, a global flood or creation, I'd say that this is a "tall" tale.

Apparently he was supposedly a decendant of the Nephilim, a race of giants/freaks that were the offspring of fallen angels and humans. Whether or not this has any truth to it (as most of the bible) it is hard to test scientifically. Many things like that seem to be mythilogical in nature rather than factual.

Oscar Mayer...

In other words, a fair grade of B O L O G N A.

If you start with baloney, you don't end up with fillet mignon, just baloney. Yes, I have no doubt that some people believe something like that, but it is roughly comparable to expecting a gourmet meal from a package of baloney.
