thks common s-I have studied Islam and did not say I would follow it-but don't forget it was the despised Samaritan who helped the man in distress-by this I mean God's ways are not ours and God will listen to all who call on him
The three Abrahamic faiths have God in common and that is what we should build on
Anything else would require a miracle

It may not be an individual thing it may well be political and Cultural.
I often tell my non-Muslim friends to read the Quran and most of them think it's makes sense; then they ask questions I find it difficult to understand..eg.
Why do some Muslims say that Music is of the devil when the Quran never says this?
Why do Eastern Muslim men are known to flog their women publicly when the Quran is against it.
Why do Muslims kill each other for leaving Islam when Mohammad said ..to each his own.
Why do Muslim terrorists bomb each other when Mohammad said to spread peace and love throughout the world?
So you see my dear, the problem could well be with Muslims who do their own negative interpretations. The good of any religion will be seen in those who practice it.
The Quran says one thing...Muslims do another.
The Quran says one thing, the Hadith says another.
So who do we blame...the Muslims..or non-Muslims????

Of course it is as with most religious texts they can be taken out of context to illustrate any points you want to make , i.e that women can't be priests and should therefore not have the vote etc. Obviously now some christian churches dont now believe that but a case could be made for it and numerous other things the Catholic Church for example go on about going to heaven if you are good although it is plainly stated in the bible that can't happen yet the Catholic Church has spread on that principle. The Inquisition quoted the bible as source for the tortures which is no different to the way some ( notice some) Imams twist the the words of their faith to encourage suicide bombings which i don't believe you will find in any written text.

The so-called 'extremists' are not the only problem with this cult. There have been numerous survey results where a high percentage of muslims in the UK either support terrorism, or 'understand the reasons' these cowardly muderers commit acts of terrorism. The muslim community by and large view these murderers as martyrs and believe they will get their reward in heaven. There is little outright condemnation of their actions, and the authorities are not alerted to prevent suicide bombings. Then there is the globalisation agenda and the wish of many to impose sharia law. This cult began with the moon god marrying the sun goddess, is that logical or reasonable? Islam is a patriarchal 'religion' that subjugates women. Some of the other related problems are: 'honour' murders, female genital mutilation, barbaric sharia law, the inheritence laws that favour sons over widows. This medieval cult has no place in 21st century Christian countries. It's the 'religion' itself that's the problem.

I disagree.
I believe, that like Christianity, it is the faith-based religion that causes the problems. The reason for this is that interpretation is required to be individually established, because of reliance on faith.
The only people that are safe from violence in a faith based religion, are those that can choose to ignore violent passages in their holy scripture and lean more on reason than faith.
This applies to Christians, Jews and Muslims.

Mohammed, the believed prophet of Islam, was very sensitive to criticism. There were Jewish-adhering tribes that he encountered who would not accept he was a prophet. He got very angry as he believed he was. You can witness those rages in the text of the Koran. And sometimes very harsh sanctions were imposed on those who would not accept Mohammed's authority. So, since those passages are in the Koran, and the Koran is believed to be the words of God through an angel, that rage is validated for the mohammedan. And so we get the 'behead those who insult Mohammed' brigade, who read the Koran, and are acting in accordance with Mohammed's rages in the Koran.

Certain individuals in islam kill in the name of God. That was also the case during the crusades (catholics & muslims). There will always be extremists and terrorists in every religion. It is too bad because it ruins it for the rest of us. Same way w/ Christianity............ a few bad apples spoil the whole bunch.

Muslims are mentally bogged down in the six hundred ADs .
Their laws , their ideas , their treatment of women , their clanishness , are all far far behind the times.
Their biggest drawback is that they have no intention or desire to join the modern world .

heavy question this innit
is it possibly the unknown that frightens people
making up their own minds without really founding out the facts
as you know,,I'm not very religious,, and i wont knock or make fun of you,,that's your calling...
but i wish sometimes people would learn the facts first before passing judgement
