i went back last weekend (it was a big plan) and he took me out for a surprise meal to my favourite restaurant to celebrate my dissertation proposal, it was lovely but as luck would have it my body chose that day to be horribly ill. I could ahrdly look at my food let alone eat it. I felt awful and still do and was really dissapointed :(

He has managed to get a day offwork next week and has said he'll pop up for the night, i've decided to cook a full three course meal, my main question is can anyone give me any food presentation tips, to make it look really posh and gormet...

for my starter im making goats cheese rarebit. i was wodering what type of salad dressing would go well with this and any type of dressing that will look pretty and taste good.

Any herb garnishes etc....i like the effect of dusting etc, but cnt think of any herbs etc that go with savoury things...

Any tips on making our night in extra special would be welcomed as well.

thanks in advance :)

LOL, you really don't think he is going to care what you prepare for a meal do you???? Pizza and a beer and a naked woman will make up for almost anything. As an educated woman you should know that. LOL

You can make spaghetti with read sauce, it's VErY easy to make. You can also add some extra stuff on the table to with the meal like slice feta cheese and add some olive oil on it and sprinkle it with oregano, it goes well with spaghetti. Some kalamata olives maybe.
And apple pie which only takes 10mins to prepare and its really delicious.

The sauce for spaghetti - fry 1-2 onions (chopped) until they are golden then add 1 tooth of garlic, u chop that up to. Then add the minced meat, cook it until it becomes brown. It's gonna go pale first, then its gonna turn brown. Thats when you add about one glass of tomato paste. Add 1/4 of a tsp of cumin, salt, pepper and 1/4 tsp of clove powder. Let that cook until the sauce becomes sorta thick.

spaghetti - Add about 3 full table spoons of salt in the water, let it boil. Then add the spaghetti and keep mixing it so it doesnt stick. When you think they are ready, take one out and cut it, if theres something white in the middle means that its still not cooked.
When it's ready, drain the water and add butter to the spaghetti. Put the lid on top of the pan and shake it lol. Make sure it's all mixed with butter, otherwise it will get stuck to each other after a while.

For the apple pie you will need 1kg of apples, one lemon, one teaspoon of cinnamon, half teaspoon of clove powder, butter, sugar and flour. You can also try and make the apple pie before he comes and see if you like it. Its really easy so its not a prob.
If you decide to go with the apple pie or if you want the recipe please e-mail me. I cant type it all right now. No time. sorry..

I was just intrigued by your question when I saw you had a long distant relationship. I have one with my boyfriend also. He lives 94 miles away, and it is a two hour drive. If he were just coming up for a night, he would not want me to fuss over preparing and serving a meal like you are talking about. We would rather call out for pizza and spend our time talking and cuddling on the couch.

Dude... (I mean girl)... NOT YOUR FAULT!

You don't need posh food to celebrate. My xgf once surprised me for our anniversary completely out of the blue (we already did the exchange gift thing) with a romantic candlelight dinner with ordered pizzas and a bottle of wine!

I still remember every detail of that night. (Sob, I'm such a girl.)

Just go with what tastes good and you can't go wrong. Oh, and of course, don't forget the dessert :-)

get a customized bath oil potion from Bath Junkie. one for you and one for him. note - be sure to check out the Dirt scent, don't get it (unless you want to) just check it out.
then give each other a full body massage with the respective oils.

what kinds of things does he like? he shouldn't really care about the meal though, he should just be happy to get to spend time with you.
