Simply because the people who started the Protestant movement were attatched to that Bible. the KJV was not the first english bible. Tyndale and Coverdales English bibles preceeded it. But you know the rule when the King establishes something everyone listens. The problem with it is the word VERSION, which proves its not the Genuin Unedited Bible, but King James Version of what he thinks the bible should be.

I seem to be a collector of bibles have have 48 in my home, and every time new one comes out I get it. What I did find out from both the American Bible Society and the International Bible society is that certain translations are for particular denominations Ex: The Spirit Filled Bible, Life in the Spirit, bibles were made for Charismatic folks. Others were for Protestant, some for Non or INterdenominational and every translation has a different reading level. The KJV is for people with reading levels of 12 grade or higher, the NIV is for 10th, the CEV 9th grade, the Amplified and Living Bible are made so Middle School persons can understand it.

It is strange how some people can hold onto the KJV as if it were the first bible made, but they need to think that the world was not without a bible until they came along. From the Dead Sea Scrolls to present the word of God has been circulating all across the world. Latin bibles, Greek bibles, and others were already out there.

It is not, except to heretical KJV only folks.

The "authorized version" is so called because James I "authorized" it to be translated. Most Protestant churches today use the NIV, NASB, or ESV translations. Our church is slowly moving to the ESV and I believe it is perhaps the most accurate translation into modern English.

The first generally accepted version of the current-day Bible made off the printing presses that were new in that day was sponsored by King James. It was told orally to the scribes; it was not copied.

Read the bible.
Any version. The words will never harm you. Protestant, Catholic, religion doesn't matter. Just a relationship that can only be found in the reading of that book.

My History teacher said that King James separated Catholics from Protestants [used to be just Catholics] because he killed every wife he got tired of and when the pope told him he can't do that he started Protestants.
