Cornflour and milk.
Mix it in until it's REALLY thick and then cool in the fridge
For those people saying don't use Cornflour... Custard is made WITH cornflour :-)
Ingredients
570ml/1 pint milk
55ml/2fl oz single cream
1 vanilla pod or ½ tsp vanilla extract
4 eggs, yolks only
30g/1oz caster sugar
2 level tsp cornflour
Method
1. Bring the milk, cream and vanilla pod to simmering point slowly over a low heat.
2. Remove the vanilla pod (wash the vanilla pod, dry and store in jar with caster sugar to make vanilla sugar).
3. Whisk the yolks, sugar and cornflour together in a bowl until well blended.
4. Pour the hot milk and cream on to the eggs and sugar, whisking all the time with a balloon whisk.
5. Return to the pan, (add vanilla extract if using) and over a low heat gently stir with a wooden spatula until thickened.
6. Pour the custard into a jug and serve at once.
7. To keep hot, stand the jug in a pan of hot water and cover the top with cling film to prevent skin forming.

I used to put a plastic spoon in each of the baby's hands while I fed him!! This way he thought he was helping to feed himself.
Any custard that is thick enough for him to pick up is not as good! Just let him make "squishy pies" from a bit in a bowl and eventually he will learn to feed himself using the spoons.

It's called Creme Patissiere -
280ml milk
25g plain flour
2 teaspoons cornflour
4 egg-yolks
60g caster sugar
Whisk the egg-yolks and sugar together and then add the cornflour and flour. Boil the milk and whisk it slowly into the egg mixture. Pour it into a clean pan and bring it slowly to the boil, until it thickens. Simmer it for a minute and then allow it to cool. Cover it with cling-film to prevent a skin from forming.

Find a good recipe like on the Jello and other companies Pudding and Pie filling recipes. The custard quality comes from the starches working with the other agents.

Make it a little bit thicker by adding less milk, leave to cool and add the fruit. Put it in the fridge to set and you can cut it into slices

Don't give your baby anything with cornflour in it - she won't be able to poop for a week.
When making - just add less milk to allow to set thicker - might have to experiment a little

You could try and use some aspartame - its natural and a bit more pallatable than corn flour.
